Service & Sales Representative Jobs in Michigan: Frequently Asked Questions
How do you become a service & sales representative in Michigan?
Most service & sales representative roles in Michigan require a high school diploma and on-the-job training, though a two- or four-year degree improves your competitiveness. Roles in insurance require a Michigan Department of Insurance and Financial Services license, which involves passing the state licensing exam before you can sell or service policies. Utility, telecom, and automotive aftermarket roles typically require employer-run product training rather than a state credential, so the path into those roles starts with an application and a company onboarding program.
Which companies hire service & sales representatives in Michigan?
Companies currently hiring service & sales representatives in Michigan include Cintas, Auto-Chlor System, and Quality Air Heating & Cooling, per current listings on Migrate Mate as of September 2026. Michigan's concentration of energy utilities, insurance carriers, and automotive-adjacent businesses means large regional employers like DTE Energy, Consumers Energy, and Auto-Owners Insurance are among the more consistent sources of openings.
Which Michigan cities have the most service & sales representative jobs?
Jenison, Byron Center, and Troy have the most service & sales representative openings in Michigan. Detroit leads because of its dense concentration of insurance offices, utility service centers, and automotive accounts, while Grand Rapids drives volume through its growing financial services and healthcare sectors, and Lansing adds openings tied to state government contractors, insurance carriers headquartered there, and regional energy providers.
Are there remote service & sales representative jobs in Michigan?
Yes, but they're mixed depending on the industry. About 0% of service & sales representative openings tied to Michigan are remote or hybrid as of September 2026, with the split varying widely by sector. Insurance account management and inside sales roles for telecom or financial products are the most likely to be fully remote or hybrid, while field service roles tied to utilities or automotive accounts almost always require an in-person presence.
How can I get hired as a service & sales representative in Michigan with little or no experience?
The most realistic entry path is applying directly for inside sales associate or customer service representative roles at Michigan utility companies, regional insurance agencies, or telecom providers, which regularly bring on candidates without prior sales experience and train them internally. DTE Energy and Consumers Energy run structured onboarding for service roles, and independent insurance agencies affiliated with carriers like Auto-Owners Insurance often hire and sponsor new agents through the Michigan DIFS licensing process. Completing the Michigan insurance licensing exam before applying gives you a concrete edge over other entry-level candidates.
Where can I find and apply to service & sales representative jobs in Michigan?
You can find and apply to service & sales representative jobs in Michigan on Migrate Mate, which lists current Michigan openings across industries including utilities, insurance, automotive services, and financial products. Search the listings to find roles that match your experience level and location, then apply directly to the ones that fit.
