Service Coordinator Jobs in Florida: Frequently Asked Questions
How do you become a service coordinator in Florida?
The path depends on the setting. For developmental disabilities coordination, you typically need a bachelor's degree in social work, psychology, or a related human services field and must meet the qualifications set by the Florida Agency for Persons with Disabilities to serve as a support coordinator. Healthcare and managed care roles often look for a similar degree plus familiarity with Florida Medicaid waiver programs. No single statewide license governs all service coordinator roles, but some positions require a Florida-recognized human services or social work credential.
Which companies hire service coordinators in Florida?
Companies currently hiring service coordinators in Florida include Banfield Pet Hospital, National Spine and Pain Centers, and Putzmeister, per current listings on Migrate Mate as of August 2026. Florida's large Medicaid managed care plans, developmental disabilities support agencies, and multi-site healthcare systems generate the most consistent statewide demand for this role.
Which Florida cities have the most service coordinator jobs?
Orlando, Miami, and Jacksonville have the most service coordinator openings in Florida. Miami's concentration of managed care plans and community health organizations, Tampa's large hospital systems and human services nonprofits, and Orlando's rapidly growing healthcare and disabilities services sector each drive substantial hiring and account for why those metro areas consistently lead the state in postings.
Are there remote service coordinator jobs in Florida?
Yes, but they are limited. The role involves regular contact with clients, community providers, and care teams, which keeps most positions on-site or in the field. About 19% of service coordinator openings tied to Florida are remote or hybrid as of August 2026, and those positions tend to concentrate in telephonic care management and utilization review functions within managed care organizations rather than in direct community or disabilities support work.
How can I get hired as a service coordinator in Florida with little or no experience?
The most realistic entry point is a support coordinator associate or case aide position with a Florida Agency for Persons with Disabilities-contracted provider, where on-the-job training replaces prior experience. Large Florida employers such as the Centers for Independent Living, iBudget waiver support agencies, and AdventHealth's social work departments regularly bring in candidates from adjacent roles like direct support professional, patient access representative, or home health aide. Completing a Florida-recognized human services certificate or enrolling in a social work bachelor's program while working in a direct support role strengthens your candidacy considerably.
Where can I find and apply to service coordinator jobs in Florida?
You can find and apply to service coordinator jobs in Florida on Migrate Mate, which lists current Florida openings across healthcare, human services, managed care, and developmental disabilities organizations. Search the listings, identify the roles that fit your background and target region, and apply directly to the ones that match.
