Solutions Lead Jobs in Virginia: Frequently Asked Questions
How do you become a solutions lead in Virginia?
Most solutions lead roles in Virginia require a bachelor's degree in information technology, computer science, engineering, or business, followed by progressive experience in technical consulting, pre-sales, or solution architecture. Virginia's dominant defense and federal IT market means a security clearance significantly strengthens your candidacy. Vendor certifications from AWS, Microsoft, or Salesforce are widely expected and can substitute for years of experience in competitive shortlists.
Which companies hire solutions leads in Virginia?
Employers hiring solutions leads in Virginia right now include SNO, AT&T, and Airbus, based on current listings on Migrate Mate as of August 2026. Virginia's heavy concentration of defense primes and federal integrators means many of these openings are tied to long-term government contracts requiring specialized technical and clearance backgrounds.
Which Virginia cities have the most solutions lead jobs?
The cities with the most solutions lead openings in Virginia are Chantilly, Richmond, and Herndon. Northern Virginia dominates because of its dense cluster of federal agencies, defense contractors, and cloud infrastructure providers, while Richmond and Hampton Roads generate demand through state government modernization efforts and established technology and logistics employers headquartered in those metros.
Are there remote solutions lead jobs in Virginia?
Yes, and more than many technical roles, since solution design and pre-sales work is largely desk-based and collaborative rather than hands-on. About 67% of solutions lead openings tied to Virginia are remote or hybrid as of August 2026. Client-facing discovery and proposal work is most likely to go remote, while roles requiring cleared facility access or on-site demonstrations remain predominantly in-office.
How can I get hired as a solutions lead in Virginia with little or no experience?
The most realistic entry path is moving into a solutions lead role from adjacent positions such as technical account manager, systems analyst, or sales engineer. Large Virginia-based employers like Leidos and Booz Allen Hamilton run associate and early-career consulting programs that onboard candidates without direct solutions lead experience. Earning a foundational cloud or CRM certification and building a portfolio of mock solution proposals can accelerate the transition considerably.
Where can I find and apply to solutions lead jobs in Virginia?
You can find and apply to solutions lead jobs in Virginia on Migrate Mate, which lists current Virginia openings across defense, federal IT, and enterprise technology sectors. Find roles that fit your background and apply directly from each listing.
