Staff Accountant Jobs in Arizona: Frequently Asked Questions
How do you become a staff accountant in Arizona?
A bachelor's degree in accounting or finance is the standard entry point for staff accountant roles in Arizona. While no state license is required to work as a staff accountant, many Arizona employers prefer candidates who are actively pursuing CPA licensure through the Arizona State Board of Accountancy, which oversees the CPA exam and licensing process in the state. Starting in public accounting at a regional or national firm with an Arizona office is a common path into private-industry staff accountant roles.
Which companies hire staff accountants in Arizona?
Arizona staff accountant roles are posted by Jobot, MFused, and arrivia and others right now, based on current listings on Migrate Mate as of September 2026. Arizona's mix of corporate headquarters, large healthcare networks, and mining and manufacturing companies creates consistent openings across a range of industries throughout the year.
Which Arizona cities have the most staff accountant jobs?
Phoenix, Scottsdale, and Tempe have the most staff accountant openings in Arizona. Phoenix anchors the market as the state's largest corporate hub, with Scottsdale and Tempe adding significant volume through financial services firms, technology companies, and university-affiliated organizations that cluster in the East Valley corridor.
Are there remote staff accountant jobs in Arizona?
Yes, and more than many comparable roles, because staff accounting work is largely desk-based and software-driven. About 38% of staff accountant openings tied to Arizona are remote or hybrid as of September 2026, reflecting how well the role's core tasks travel outside the office. Financial reporting, reconciliations, and general ledger maintenance are the functions most commonly offered in remote or hybrid arrangements.
How can I get hired as a staff accountant in Arizona with little or no experience?
The most realistic entry path is an accounting internship or staff associate program at one of Arizona's regional public accounting firms, such as those with offices in Phoenix or Tucson, followed by a move into private industry. Large Arizona employers like Banner Health and Arizona State University run new-grad accounting programs and post entry-level staff accountant and accounting associate roles that do not require prior full-time experience. Completing the first two parts of the CPA exam or earning a bookkeeping or payroll certification gives candidates a measurable edge over applicants with identical degrees and no credentials.
Where can I find and apply to staff accountant jobs in Arizona?
You can find and apply to staff accountant jobs in Arizona on Migrate Mate, which lists current Arizona openings. Search the available roles, find the ones that match your background and location, and apply directly to whichever listings fit your situation.
