Staff Accountant Jobs in Kentucky: Frequently Asked Questions
How do you become a staff accountant in Kentucky?
Most staff accountant roles in Kentucky require a bachelor's degree in accounting or a closely related field. While a CPA license is not mandatory at the staff level, many Kentucky employers prefer candidates who are CPA-eligible or actively pursuing licensure through the Kentucky State Board of Accountancy. Meeting the board's education requirements and passing the CPA exam signals commitment and is a meaningful advantage in a competitive market.
Which companies hire staff accountants in Kentucky?
Employers hiring staff accountants in Kentucky right now include TKM, Jobot, and AvKARE, based on current listings on Migrate Mate as of September 2026. Kentucky's manufacturing base, major healthcare systems, and regional financial institutions generate consistent year-round demand for accounting professionals across the state.
Which Kentucky cities have the most staff accountant jobs?
Lexington, Louisville, and Paducah have the most staff accountant openings in Kentucky. Louisville dominates due to its concentration of healthcare, logistics, and corporate headquarters, while Lexington draws heavily from its university presence and equine industry finance needs, and Covington benefits from its proximity to large employers operating across the Greater Cincinnati area.
Are there remote staff accountant jobs in Kentucky?
Yes, and they're more common than in many fields, since staff accounting work centers on software, spreadsheets, and digital reporting rather than physical presence. About 38% of staff accountant openings tied to Kentucky are remote or hybrid as of September 2026, reflecting a broader shift in how Kentucky employers structure accounting teams. General ledger and accounts payable roles tend to be the most remote-friendly.
How can I get hired as a staff accountant in Kentucky with little or no experience?
The most realistic entry path is applying for accounting associate or junior accountant roles at Kentucky's large healthcare systems, manufacturers, or regional accounting firms, which regularly hire recent graduates. Organizations like Humana, Baptist Health, and regional CPA firms in Louisville and Lexington run structured onboarding for new grads. Completing an accounting internship, pursuing CPA candidacy through the Kentucky State Board of Accountancy, and gaining familiarity with common ERP platforms all strengthen an application significantly.
Where can I find and apply to staff accountant jobs in Kentucky?
You can find and apply to staff accountant jobs in Kentucky on Migrate Mate, which lists current Kentucky openings updated regularly. Search the available roles, find the ones that match your background and location preferences, and apply directly to whichever positions fit.
