Strategic Business Development Jobs in Rhode Island: Frequently Asked Questions
How do you become a strategic business development in Rhode Island?
Most Rhode Island employers require a bachelor's degree in business administration, marketing, or a related field, though no state-issued license governs the role itself. Candidates typically build their foundation through sales or account management roles before moving into strategy. Providence-area employers in healthcare and financial services often prioritize candidates who combine that experience with demonstrated results in client growth, partnership deals, or market entry projects.
Which companies hire strategic business developments in Rhode Island?
Rhode Island strategic business development roles are posted by CVS Health, Fidelity Investments, and Citizens and others right now, based on current listings on Migrate Mate as of July 2026. Rhode Island's concentration of financial services firms, defense contractors, and hospital systems means openings appear across a broad range of industries.
Which Rhode Island cities have the most strategic business development jobs?
Providence, Rhode Island, and Woonsocket are the cities with the most strategic business development openings in Rhode Island. Providence anchors the distribution as the state's commercial and healthcare hub, while surrounding communities like Cranston and Woonsocket attract openings tied to large employers in manufacturing, insurance, and regional business services that have long-term operations outside the capital.
Are there remote strategic business development jobs in Rhode Island?
Yes, and more than many fields. Strategic business development work is largely relationship-driven and analytical, which makes remote and hybrid arrangements common. About 73% of strategic business development openings tied to Rhode Island are remote or hybrid as of July 2026, reflecting national trends in the profession. The portions of the role most likely to stay remote are market research, pipeline strategy, and internal stakeholder presentations rather than in-person client meetings.
How can I get hired as a strategic business development in Rhode Island with little or no experience?
The most realistic entry path is through inside sales or account coordinator roles at Rhode Island employers in financial services or healthcare, where exposure to client strategy and growth planning is built into the work. Lifespan Health System and Amica Mutual are among the Rhode Island institutions known to develop talent internally from junior roles. A clear demonstration of analytical thinking, a polished presentation of a business case or market analysis, and any CRM certification adds immediate credibility for candidates without formal business development titles.
Where can I find and apply to strategic business development jobs in Rhode Island?
You can find and apply to strategic business development jobs in Rhode Island on Migrate Mate, which lists current openings in the state. Search the available roles, find the ones that match your background and interests, and apply directly to the employers posting them.
