Technical Program Manager Jobs in Florida: Frequently Asked Questions
How do you become a technical program manager in Florida?
The most direct path is a bachelor's degree in computer science, engineering, or information systems followed by several years in a technical role such as software engineering, systems engineering, or IT project management. Florida has no state-issued license specific to this role, but certifications like the PMP from the Project Management Institute carry real weight with Florida employers, particularly in defense, healthcare IT, and fintech. Building a portfolio of cross-functional program deliveries accelerates hiring.
How much do technical program managers make in Florida?
Technical program managers in Florida earn a median of about $168,470 a year, based on May 2025 Bureau of Labor Statistics wage data, ranging from around $100,390 for the lowest 10% to over $264,460 for the top 10%. Pay rises with experience, specialty, and employer.
Which companies hire technical program managers in Florida?
Employers hiring technical program managers in Florida right now include Capgemini, Blue Origin, and LMI, based on current listings on Migrate Mate as of September 2026. Florida's mix of defense contractors near Orlando, fintech firms in Miami, and healthcare technology companies in Tampa creates consistent year-round demand across a range of industry verticals.
Which Florida cities have the most technical program manager jobs?
Tampa, Florida, and Miami have the most technical program manager openings in Florida. Miami drives demand through its growing fintech and enterprise software sector, Orlando anchors hiring through defense contractors and simulation technology firms clustered around the space corridor, and Tampa's concentration of healthcare systems and financial services companies adds a steady pipeline of program management roles.
Are there remote technical program manager jobs in Florida?
Yes, and more than most fields. About 67% of technical program manager openings tied to Florida are remote or hybrid as of September 2026, reflecting the coordination-heavy, meeting-driven nature of the role. The parts of the job most commonly done remotely include roadmap planning, stakeholder updates, and risk tracking, while on-site presence is sometimes required for defense programs with facility access requirements.
How can I get hired as a technical program manager in Florida with little or no experience?
The most realistic entry path is moving laterally from a technical role you already hold, such as software engineer, business analyst, or IT coordinator, into a junior or associate program manager position. Large Florida employers like Lockheed Martin and AdventHealth run rotational and associate program manager tracks that accept candidates without prior PM titles. Earning a CAPM or completing Google's Project Management certificate strengthens early applications, and working in a scrum master or project coordinator capacity builds the delivery experience Florida hiring managers look for.
Where can I find and apply to technical program manager jobs in Florida?
You can find and apply to technical program manager jobs in Florida on Migrate Mate, which lists current Florida openings updated regularly. Find the roles that fit your experience and target industry, then apply directly to each one through the listing.
