Employers in Delaware's chemical and life sciences sectors typically look for candidates who combine product knowledge with consultative selling ability. Starting in a technical support, applications engineering, or inside sales role at a Delaware manufacturer is the most common path to a full technical sales engineer position.
How much do technical sales engineers make in Delaware?
Technical sales engineers in Delaware earn a median of about $167,200 a year, based on May 2025 Bureau of Labor Statistics wage data, ranging from around $132,000 for the lowest 10% to over $203,690 for the top 10%. Pay rises with experience, specialty, and employer.
Which companies hire technical sales engineers in Delaware?
Employers hiring technical sales engineers in Delaware right now include JPMorganChase, Berkley Technology Services, and KBR, based on current listings on Migrate Mate as of July 2026. Delaware's concentration of specialty chemical, materials science, and pharmaceutical companies means many of these openings involve technically complex products sold to industrial or research buyers.
Which Delaware cities have the most technical sales engineer jobs?
The cities with the most technical sales engineer openings in Delaware are Wilmington, Newark, and New Castle. Wilmington drives the majority of postings because of the corporate headquarters and R&D facilities anchored there by chemical and life sciences firms, while Newark and Dover attract openings tied to manufacturing operations, university-linked startups, and state government procurement.
Are there remote technical sales engineer jobs in Delaware?
Yes, and more than many technical roles, since a significant portion of the work involves calls, product demos, and proposal writing that can be done off-site. About 42% of technical sales engineer openings tied to Delaware are remote or hybrid as of July 2026, reflecting the flexibility employers allow outside of on-site product demonstrations or customer visits. Field travel requirements often determine how much of any given role stays remote.
How can I get hired as a technical sales engineer in Delaware with little or no experience?
The most realistic entry path is applying for inside sales, sales support, or applications technician roles at Delaware's chemical or industrial manufacturers, where you develop product knowledge before moving into a field-facing position. Companies like DuPont and Chemours have historically brought on new graduates in technical support functions that feed into sales engineering tracks. A degree in engineering or chemistry, even without direct sales experience, carries significant weight, and earning a Salesforce certification or completing a formal product training program strengthens any entry-level application.
