Which construction companies sponsor Green Card visas in Florida?
Large general contractors and specialty subcontractors with established legal and HR infrastructure are the most common Green Card sponsors in Florida. Companies like Skanska USA, Turner Construction, Moss Construction, Balfour Beatty, and Suffolk Construction have Florida operations and documented sponsorship histories. Larger firms with multi-year projects, such as those tied to Miami-Dade County infrastructure or Orlando resort development, are more likely to sponsor because long-term staffing needs make sponsorship economically worthwhile for them.
Which cities in Florida have the most construction Green Card sponsorship jobs?
Miami and the broader South Florida region generate the highest volume of construction sponsorship activity, fueled by commercial high-rise development, port expansion, and infrastructure upgrades. Orlando follows closely, driven by hospitality and resort construction around the theme park corridor. Tampa and Jacksonville are growing rapidly due to large mixed-use and infrastructure projects. Each of these metros has a concentration of large contractors and project owners with the capacity to support Green Card filings.
What types of construction roles typically qualify for Green Card sponsorship in Florida?
Roles requiring specialized education or licensure tend to qualify most readily. Civil engineers, structural engineers, project managers, estimators, and construction managers with bachelor's degrees commonly qualify under the EB-2 or EB-3 categories. Skilled tradespeople, including electricians, HVAC technicians, and ironworkers, can qualify under EB-3 as skilled workers if the employer demonstrates the position cannot be filled domestically through the PERM labor certification process. Florida's licensed contractor requirements can also strengthen certain sponsorship cases.
How do I find construction Green Card sponsorship jobs in Florida?
Migrate Mate is built specifically for international job seekers looking for visa-sponsored roles, including construction Green Card jobs in Florida. You can filter by state, visa type, and industry to see verified sponsorship opportunities from employers actively hiring. Because Green Card sponsorship involves a multi-step process including PERM labor certification, focusing on larger contractors and firms with active Florida projects gives you the strongest starting point for outreach.
Are there any Florida-specific considerations for Green Card sponsorship in construction?
Florida does not have a state income tax, which affects total compensation calculations but does not directly impact the Green Card sponsorship process. However, Florida's contractor licensing requirements mean some roles require a state-issued license before an employer can place a worker in a supervisory or qualifying capacity. Employers in Florida also face a tight labor market in skilled trades, which can work in applicants' favor during the PERM labor market test, as demonstrating a shortage of qualified U.S. workers is a key step in the process.
What is the prevailing wage for Green Card construction jobs in Florida?
U.S. employers sponsoring a visa must pay at least the prevailing wage, which is what workers in the same role, area, and experience level typically earn. The Department of Labor sets this rate to make sure companies aren't hiring foreign workers simply because they'd accept lower pay than a U.S. worker. It varies by job title, location, and experience. You can look up current prevailing wage rates for any occupation and location using the OFLC Wage Search page.
