Which agriculture companies sponsor H-2B visas in Georgia?
Georgia's H-2B agriculture sponsors include large peach and blueberry growers in the southeastern part of the state, Vidalia onion producers in Toombs and surrounding counties, and farm labor contractors that serve multiple commodity operations statewide. Nursery and greenhouse operations near the Atlanta metro also file H-2B petitions. Sponsoring employers are required to file a Labor Condition Application with OFLC before petitioning USCIS, so their filings appear in the public OFLC disclosure data.
Which cities in Georgia have the most agriculture H-2B sponsorship jobs?
H-2B agriculture sponsorship activity in Georgia is concentrated in farming communities rather than major urban centers. Vidalia and Lyons in Toombs County are strong hubs for onion harvesting. Alma and Baxley in Bacon and Appling counties anchor blueberry production. Tifton serves as a regional agricultural center for south Georgia row crops. Fort Valley in Peach County draws seasonal workers for stone fruit harvesting during summer months.
What types of agriculture roles typically qualify for H-2B sponsorship?
H-2B sponsorship in agriculture covers roles classified as temporary or seasonal that are not year-round needs of the employer. Common qualifying positions include field crop workers, fruit and vegetable harvesters, irrigation equipment operators, nursery laborers, and packinghouse graders. Roles must be for a finite season tied to a natural event such as a harvest period. Employers must demonstrate they could not fill the positions with available U.S. workers at the prevailing wage determined through OFLC.
How do I find agriculture H-2B sponsorship jobs in Georgia?
Migrate Mate lists verified H-2B agriculture positions in Georgia, filtering roles by employer filing history drawn from OFLC Labor Condition Application data. Search the platform by state and visa type to see active and recent openings with confirmed sponsorship records. Because H-2B agriculture jobs are seasonal and fill quickly, checking Migrate Mate regularly during winter and early spring, when employers typically begin petitioning for summer harvest seasons, gives you the best chance of finding open roles.
Are there any state-specific considerations for H-2B agriculture workers in Georgia?
Georgia participates in the federal E-Verify program, and many agriculture employers in the state are required to use it to confirm work authorization. Georgia's agriculture seasons are heavily influenced by commodity calendars: onion harvest typically runs April through June, blueberry picking peaks from May through July, and peach harvest runs June through August. Workers should confirm that the specific season and job duties listed in the H-2B petition match the actual work period, as USCIS ties petition validity to those dates.
What is the prevailing wage for H-2B agriculture jobs in Georgia?
U.S. employers sponsoring a visa must pay at least the prevailing wage, which is what workers in the same role, area, and experience level typically earn. The Department of Labor sets this rate to make sure companies aren't hiring foreign workers simply because they'd accept lower pay than a U.S. worker. It varies by job title, location, and experience. You can look up current prevailing wage rates for any occupation and location using the OFLC Wage Search page.
