Which insurance companies sponsor H-1B visas in Indiana?
Indiana-based insurers and financial services companies that have filed H-1B visa Labor Condition Applications include OneAmerica Financial Partners, Physicians Health Plan of Indiana, and various third-party administrators headquartered in the Indianapolis metro. National carriers with Indiana operations, such as Anthem (now Elevance Health) and CNO Financial Group, have also sponsored H-1B workers in actuarial, IT, and analytics roles. Sponsorship patterns vary by role and year, so reviewing DOL LCA disclosure data gives the most current picture.
Which cities in Indiana have the most insurance H-1B sponsorship jobs?
Indianapolis accounts for the large majority of insurance H-1B sponsorship activity in Indiana, driven by the concentration of carrier headquarters, insurance holding companies, and insurtech operations in the metro. Carmel and Fishers, both northern Indianapolis suburbs, host several financial services and insurance employers. Fort Wayne has a smaller but active insurance market. Bloomington and South Bend have limited insurance sponsorship relative to the Indianapolis corridor.
What types of insurance roles typically qualify for H-1B sponsorship?
H-1B sponsorship in insurance is concentrated in roles that require a specific bachelor's degree or higher as a standard industry requirement. Actuaries with degrees in actuarial science, mathematics, or statistics qualify consistently. Data scientists, quantitative analysts, software engineers building insurance platforms, and compliance specialists with finance or law degrees are also common H-1B roles. General claims adjusting or customer-facing sales positions rarely meet the specialty occupation standard required for H-1B eligibility.
How do I find insurance H-1B sponsorship jobs in Indiana?
Migrate Mate is built specifically for international job seekers and filters listings by visa sponsorship type, including H-1B, so you can search insurance roles in Indiana without sorting through employers who don't sponsor. The platform surfaces actuarial, analytics, underwriting, and insurance technology positions at Indiana-based companies. Searching by state and industry on Migrate Mate narrows results to employers who have indicated sponsorship willingness, saving significant time compared to unfiltered job searches.
Are there Indiana-specific considerations for H-1B sponsorship in insurance?
Indiana does not impose state-level restrictions on H-1B employment beyond federal requirements. However, actuaries and certain insurance professionals in Indiana may need state licensure, which is separate from H-1B status and must be obtained through the Indiana Department of Insurance. Employers sponsoring H-1B workers must still file a Labor Condition Application with the DOL certifying prevailing wage compliance. Indiana's relatively lower cost of doing business has attracted insurance back-office and analytics operations, which can support a broader pool of sponsoring employers than in higher-cost states.
What is the prevailing wage for H-1B insurance jobs in Indiana?
U.S. employers sponsoring a visa must pay at least the prevailing wage, which is what workers in the same role, area, and experience level typically earn. The Department of Labor sets this rate to make sure companies aren't hiring foreign workers simply because they'd accept lower pay than a U.S. worker. It varies by job title, location, and experience. You can look up current prevailing wage rates for any occupation and location using the OFLC Wage Search page.
