Which insurance companies in Iowa are known to sponsor E-3 visas?
Des Moines-based carriers including Principal Financial Group, EMC Insurance, and Nationwide's Iowa operations have filed Labor Condition Applications for specialty occupation roles. Farm Bureau Financial Services and Wellmark Blue Cross Blue Shield also hire internationally for actuarial, underwriting, and technology positions. Sponsorship activity varies by year and role, so reviewing employer LCA filing histories through OFLC disclosure data gives the most accurate current picture.
Which cities in Iowa have the most insurance E-3 sponsorship jobs?
Des Moines accounts for the overwhelming majority of insurance E-3 visa sponsorship opportunities in Iowa, reflecting its status as one of the largest insurance centers in the United States. West Des Moines and Urbandale, both part of the greater Des Moines metro, also host significant carrier and third-party administrator operations. Cedar Rapids has a smaller but active insurance employment base, primarily in regional carriers and independent agencies.
What types of insurance roles typically qualify for E-3 sponsorship in Iowa?
Roles that require at least a bachelor's degree in a directly related field typically qualify as specialty occupations under E-3 rules. In Iowa's insurance sector, this includes actuaries, underwriters, financial analysts, data scientists, risk management specialists, compliance officers, and insurance technology engineers. General customer service, claims adjusting, or sales roles that do not require a specific degree field are less likely to meet the specialty occupation standard.
How do I find insurance E-3 sponsorship jobs in Iowa?
Migrate Mate filters job listings by visa type and industry, making it straightforward to identify Iowa insurance employers actively seeking E-3 candidates. The platform surfaces DOL Labor Condition Application filing history so you can see which carriers and administrators have sponsored E-3 workers before, helping you prioritize applications to employers already familiar with the process rather than those encountering it for the first time.
Are there any Iowa-specific considerations for E-3 sponsorship in the insurance industry?
Iowa's insurance industry operates under the Iowa Insurance Division, and some compliance and regulatory roles may require state-specific licensing that runs parallel to the E-3 visa process. Employers in Des Moines are generally experienced with international hiring given the city's insurance concentration, but you should confirm that your prospective employer has an active LCA filing history before accepting an offer, as internal sponsorship processes vary significantly between carriers.
What is the prevailing wage for E-3 insurance jobs in Iowa?
U.S. employers sponsoring a visa must pay at least the prevailing wage, which is what workers in the same role, area, and experience level typically earn. The Department of Labor sets this rate to make sure companies aren't hiring foreign workers simply because they'd accept lower pay than a U.S. worker. It varies by job title, location, and experience. You can look up current prevailing wage rates for any occupation and location using the OFLC Wage Search page.
