Which investment management companies sponsor H-1B visas in Iowa?
Principal Financial Group and Transamerica, both headquartered in Des Moines, are among Iowa's most active H-1B visa sponsors in investment and asset management. Athene Holding and EMC Insurance also have significant asset management operations in the state. These firms have filed H-1B petitions for roles including investment analysts, actuaries, and quantitative finance professionals based on Department of Labor LCA disclosure data.
Which cities in Iowa have the most investment management H-1B sponsorship jobs?
Des Moines is by far the primary market for investment management H-1B sponsorship jobs in Iowa. The city functions as a national hub for insurance-linked asset management, with firms like Principal, Transamerica, and Athene maintaining large investment teams there. Cedar Rapids has a smaller but active financial services presence. Outside these two cities, investment management H-1B opportunities in Iowa are limited.
What types of investment management roles typically qualify for H-1B sponsorship in Iowa?
Roles that regularly qualify for H-1B sponsorship in Iowa's investment management sector include portfolio analysts, quantitative analysts, fixed income researchers, risk management specialists, and compliance analysts. These positions generally require at minimum a bachelor's degree in finance, economics, mathematics, or a related quantitative field, meeting the H-1B specialty occupation standard. Generalist business or administrative roles without a specific degree requirement are less likely to qualify.
How do I find investment management H-1B sponsorship jobs in Iowa?
Migrate Mate is a job board built specifically for international candidates seeking H-1B visa sponsorship, including investment management roles in Iowa. You can filter directly by visa type, industry, and state to surface positions at Iowa-based firms that have a documented history of H-1B sponsorship. This is more targeted than searching general job boards, where sponsorship willingness is rarely confirmed upfront.
Are there any Iowa-specific considerations for H-1B sponsorship in investment management?
Iowa's investment management sector is heavily anchored in insurance and annuities rather than traditional asset management, which shapes the types of roles available. Many H-1B positions here involve actuarial support, fixed income portfolio work, or risk analytics tied to insurance company balance sheets. Candidates with credentials in actuarial science or fixed income are particularly well-positioned. Iowa does not impose state-level visa sponsorship requirements, so federal H-1B rules apply uniformly.
What is the prevailing wage for H-1B investment management jobs in Iowa?
U.S. employers sponsoring a visa must pay at least the prevailing wage, which is what workers in the same role, area, and experience level typically earn. The Department of Labor sets this rate to make sure companies aren't hiring foreign workers simply because they'd accept lower pay than a U.S. worker. It varies by job title, location, and experience. You can look up current prevailing wage rates for any occupation and location using the OFLC Wage Search page.
