Which medical devices companies in Iowa sponsor H-1B visas?
Iowa has a number of medical devices manufacturers and suppliers that have sponsored H-1B visas, including companies in Des Moines, Cedar Rapids, and the Quad Cities metro area. Firms involved in device manufacturing, engineering, and quality assurance tend to file H-1B petitions most consistently. Checking Department of Labor LCA disclosure data for Iowa-based employers in the medical devices sector gives the most accurate, verifiable picture of sponsorship history.
Which cities in Iowa have the most medical devices H-1B sponsorship jobs?
Des Moines and Cedar Rapids account for the largest share of medical devices employment in Iowa, with a secondary concentration in the Davenport and Bettendorf area of the Quad Cities. These metro areas host both manufacturing facilities and corporate office functions, which broadens the types of H-1B-eligible roles available. Smaller cities like Iowa City, home to the University of Iowa Hospitals, also generate med-tech adjacent opportunities.
What types of medical devices roles typically qualify for H-1B sponsorship in Iowa?
Roles that commonly qualify are those requiring at least a bachelor's degree in a specific technical or scientific field. In medical devices, this includes biomedical engineers, mechanical and electrical engineers, regulatory affairs specialists, quality engineers, research and development scientists, and software engineers working on device software. Roles where a general degree in any discipline is acceptable are less likely to meet the H-1B specialty occupation standard.
How do I find medical devices H-1B sponsorship jobs in Iowa?
Migrate Mate is built specifically for international candidates seeking H-1B sponsorship and lets you filter by state and industry, including medical devices roles in Iowa. Because sponsorship willingness is one of the hardest things to confirm from a standard job posting, using a platform designed around visa sponsorship saves significant time. Migrate Mate aggregates and filters listings so you can focus on employers who have indicated they will sponsor.
Are there any Iowa-specific considerations for H-1B sponsorship in the medical devices industry?
Iowa's medical devices sector skews toward manufacturing and engineering rather than pure research, which affects the types of H-1B petitions filed. Employers in manufacturing environments sometimes have fewer prior sponsorship cases on record compared to large coastal tech firms, so verifying an individual employer's sponsorship history through LCA data before applying is worthwhile. Iowa has no state-level work authorization rules that affect H-1B eligibility, so federal requirements apply uniformly.
What is the prevailing wage for H-1B medical devices jobs in Iowa?
U.S. employers sponsoring a visa must pay at least the prevailing wage, which is what workers in the same role, area, and experience level typically earn. The Department of Labor sets this rate to make sure companies aren't hiring foreign workers simply because they'd accept lower pay than a U.S. worker. It varies by job title, location, and experience. You can look up current prevailing wage rates for any occupation and location using the OFLC Wage Search page.
