Tips for Finding H-1B Sponsorship Jobs in Mississippi
Target Mississippi's largest hospital systems first
Healthcare employers like University of Mississippi Medical Center and Merit Health sponsor H-1B visas consistently for physicians, nurses with specialty credentials, and allied health professionals. Hospital systems file LCAs publicly, so you can verify sponsorship history before applying.
Look beyond Jackson to the Gulf Coast and Golden Triangle
Gulfport-Biloxi has active engineering and energy employers, while Columbus and Starkville anchor advanced manufacturing and aerospace roles. Spreading your search across these metros increases your H-1B sponsorship options significantly.
Use DOL LCA disclosure data to identify active sponsors
The Department of Labor publishes certified Labor Condition Applications quarterly at flag.dol.gov. Filtering by Mississippi shows which employers have recently filed for H-1B workers, giving you a verified list of companies open to sponsorship.
Search for roles tied to Mississippi's defense and aerospace sector
Columbus Air Force Base and Stennis Space Center generate demand for engineers and technical specialists. Defense contractors operating near these installations frequently sponsor H-1B workers in engineering, IT, and program management roles.
Browse sponsorship-verified listings on Migrate Mate
Migrate Mate filters job listings to surface employers who sponsor H-1B visas, saving you the time of researching each company individually. Filtering by Mississippi narrows results to employers actively hiring in the state.
Engage university and research institution hiring pipelines
Mississippi State University, Ole Miss, and Jackson State regularly hire H-1B workers for research, faculty, and technical roles. Academic institutions are cap-exempt employers, meaning they can file H-1B petitions year-round without lottery eligibility concerns.

The Gulfport-Biloxi metro is active in engineering and energy. The Golden Triangle area around Columbus and Starkville supports aerospace and manufacturing sponsorship activity.
What types of roles typically qualify for H-1B sponsorship in Mississippi?

What is the prevailing wage for H-1B jobs in Mississippi?
U.S. employers sponsoring a visa must pay at least the prevailing wage, which is what workers in the same role, area, and experience level typically earn. The Department of Labor sets this rate to make sure companies aren't hiring foreign workers simply because they'd accept lower pay than a U.S. worker. It varies by job title, location, and experience. You can look up current prevailing wage rates for any occupation and location using the OFLC Wage Search page.
