Job Summary and Responsibilities
As our Labor & Delivery Nurse at Good Samaritan Hospital, now part of CommonSpirit Health formed between CHI Health and Dignity Health, you’ll guide patients through the labor and childbirth process, focusing on the safety of the mother and baby, with kindness and compassion. You also will be a part of the recovery and postpartum which includes supporting families that are celebrating the arrival of a newborn and showing compassion and guidance during challenging moments.
- Triage walk-ins to determine if a patient is in labor, water is broken, false alarm, etc.
- Support pregnant patients in labor including induction, epidural assistance (if needed), general pain management and fetal monitoring.
- Educate patients on various interventions or procedures, medications (name and purpose), exams, and labor stages.
- Assess newborns and provide care.
- Communicate with the care management team, including anesthesiologist, physician, patient and family.

Job Requirements
- Graduate of an RN nursing program
- Active RN licensure in the state of Nebraska.
- BLS through American Heart Association.
- NRP (Neonatal Resuscitation Program) certification required within 6 months of hire
Where You'll Work
The Maternity Center at CHI Health Good Samaritan has 19 private, spacious labor/delivery/recovery/postpartum suites. We also have a Level II NICU.
CHI Health Good Samaritan is a 268-bed regional referral center in Kearney, Nebraska. You’ll find an advanced level trauma center that also offers AirCare emergency helicopter transport and an ambulance program providing long distance and local 911 service. Among our many other services are cardiac care including open-heart surgery, a level II neonatal intensive care unit, a nationally accredited cancer center, comprehensive neurosurgery, advanced orthopedic program, and inpatient and outpatient mental health services at our free-standing Richard Young Behavioral Health facility.
Pay Range
$36.00 - $52.20 /hour
