Which electronics companies sponsor H-1B visas in North Carolina?
Several established employers in North Carolina have a documented history of H-1B visa sponsorship in electronics. Cisco Systems maintains a significant presence in Research Triangle Park, as does Ericsson, which has engineering operations in the state. Wolfspeed, headquartered in Durham, sponsors H-1B workers for semiconductor roles. Defense contractors such as L3Harris and BAE Systems also hire electronics engineers in North Carolina under H-1B sponsorship.
Which cities in North Carolina have the most electronics H-1B sponsorship jobs?
The Research Triangle area, covering Raleigh, Durham, and Chapel Hill, concentrates the highest volume of electronics H-1B sponsorship activity in North Carolina, driven by semiconductor firms, telecom equipment companies, and defense contractors. Charlotte is a secondary hub with hardware and power electronics roles. Fayetteville and the surrounding region see demand from defense electronics contractors with ties to Fort Liberty.
What types of electronics roles typically qualify for H-1B sponsorship?
Roles that require a specialized bachelor's degree or higher in electrical engineering, computer engineering, or a closely related field generally qualify as specialty occupations under the H-1B category. In North Carolina's electronics sector, this includes RF and antenna engineers, semiconductor process and device engineers, embedded systems engineers, FPGA designers, and power electronics engineers. The key requirement is that the position demands theoretical and practical application of a specific body of highly specialized knowledge.
How do I find electronics H-1B sponsorship jobs in North Carolina?
Migrate Mate filters job listings specifically by visa type and industry, making it straightforward to browse electronics H-1B sponsorship jobs in North Carolina without sorting through roles that don't offer sponsorship. You can narrow results by state and job category to surface relevant openings at companies with an active H-1B sponsorship record in the electronics sector. This saves significant time compared to searching general job boards where sponsorship status is rarely stated upfront.
Are there any North Carolina-specific considerations for electronics H-1B sponsorship?
North Carolina has a significant defense electronics presence, and some positions with defense contractors require security clearances. H-1B workers who are not U.S. citizens or permanent residents face eligibility restrictions for certain clearance levels, which can limit access to specific roles. Outside the defense sector, Research Triangle Park's concentration of technology employers means that prevailing wage requirements under the H-1B labor condition application are benchmarked against a competitive regional tech labor market.
What is the prevailing wage for H-1B electronics jobs in North Carolina?
U.S. employers sponsoring a visa must pay at least the prevailing wage, which is what workers in the same role, area, and experience level typically earn. The Department of Labor sets this rate to make sure companies aren't hiring foreign workers simply because they'd accept lower pay than a U.S. worker. It varies by job title, location, and experience. You can look up current prevailing wage rates for any occupation and location using the OFLC Wage Search page.
