Which electronics companies sponsor H-1B visas in Tennessee?
Tennessee's H-1B visa electronics sponsors span automotive electronics, defense systems, and semiconductor manufacturing. Companies with documented H-1B filings in the state include Nissan North America (Smyrna), Bridgestone Americas (Nashville), Leidos and SAIC (Oak Ridge/Knoxville defense corridor), and Electro Scientific Industries. Larger manufacturers in the Memphis logistics hub also sponsor for embedded systems and quality engineering roles.
Which cities in Tennessee have the most electronics H-1B sponsorship jobs?
Nashville leads due to its concentration of corporate headquarters and technology services firms. Knoxville and Oak Ridge follow closely, driven by Department of Energy contractor activity at Oak Ridge National Laboratory and affiliated defense electronics employers. Chattanooga has grown as a manufacturing technology hub, particularly in automotive electronics tied to the Volkswagen plant and its supplier network.
What types of electronics roles typically qualify for H-1B sponsorship in Tennessee?
Roles that commonly qualify as specialty occupations in electronics include electrical engineers, hardware design engineers, embedded systems engineers, RF and signal processing engineers, VLSI/PCB design engineers, and quality assurance engineers with specialized electronics backgrounds. The position must require at minimum a bachelor's degree in a directly related technical field, such as electrical engineering, computer engineering, or electronics engineering technology.
How do I find electronics H-1B sponsorship jobs in Tennessee?
Migrate Mate filters job listings specifically by visa sponsorship type and industry, making it straightforward to browse electronics H-1B roles in Tennessee without sorting through positions that don't offer sponsorship. You can filter by state and the Electronics and Hardware category to surface relevant openings from employers who have demonstrated H-1B filing history, saving significant time in your job search.
Are there any Tennessee-specific considerations for electronics H-1B sponsorship?
Tennessee's strong defense and manufacturing sectors mean many electronics roles intersect with federal contracting, which can add security clearance requirements that complicate or limit H-1B sponsorship for certain positions. Additionally, Tennessee has no state income tax, which affects overall compensation planning. Employers in the Oak Ridge corridor frequently partner with DOE facilities, and some roles at those sites may be restricted to U.S. persons under federal contract terms.
What is the prevailing wage for H-1B electronics jobs in Tennessee?
U.S. employers sponsoring a visa must pay at least the prevailing wage, which is what workers in the same role, area, and experience level typically earn. The Department of Labor sets this rate to make sure companies aren't hiring foreign workers simply because they'd accept lower pay than a U.S. worker. It varies by job title, location, and experience. You can look up current prevailing wage rates for any occupation and location using the OFLC Wage Search page.
