Which medical devices companies in Texas sponsor visas most frequently?
Major sponsors include Medtronic (Minneapolis-based with Texas facilities), Abbott (headquarters in Abbott Park but major Texas presence), Boston Scientific, Stryker, and Johnson & Johnson subsidiaries. Texas-based companies like Zimmer Biomet and smaller innovation-focused startups in Austin's medical corridor also regularly sponsor H-1B and other work visas for engineering and regulatory positions.
How to find medical devices visa sponsorship jobs in Texas?
Use Migrate Mate to browse current medical device openings specifically filtered for Texas and visa sponsorship. Focus your search on Austin's medical device corridor, Houston's Texas Medical Center area, and Dallas-Fort Worth companies. Target roles in biomedical engineering, regulatory affairs, quality assurance, and clinical research where international expertise is highly valued.
What visa types are most common for medical devices roles in Texas?
H-1B visas dominate for engineering positions, regulatory affairs specialists, and clinical research roles requiring specialized degrees. O-1 visas are used for senior scientists and researchers with extraordinary ability. TN visas work well for Canadian and Mexican engineers. L-1 visas are common for transfers between international medical device company locations.
Which Texas cities have the most medical devices visa sponsorship opportunities?
Austin leads with its established medical device ecosystem and university partnerships. Houston follows closely due to the Texas Medical Center and related research institutions. Dallas-Fort Worth offers opportunities with larger corporations. San Antonio has emerging opportunities, particularly in military medical technology and VA hospital partnerships.
Are prevailing wages higher for medical devices jobs in Texas compared to other states?
Texas generally offers competitive wages without state income tax, making total compensation attractive. Austin and Dallas command premium wages due to tech industry competition for talent. Houston wages are competitive but slightly lower than coastal markets. Rural Texas positions may offer lower wages but significantly reduced living costs.
What is the prevailing wage for sponsored medical devices jobs in Texas?
U.S. employers sponsoring a visa must pay at least the prevailing wage, which is what workers in the same role, area, and experience level typically earn. The Department of Labor sets this rate to make sure companies aren't hiring foreign workers simply because they'd accept lower pay than a U.S. worker. It varies by job title, location, and experience. You can look up current prevailing wage rates for any occupation and location using the OFLC Wage Search page.
