INTRODUCTION
The Position 2026 Summer Intern - Cell and Gene Therapy Manufacturing
Department Summary
This position is part of Genentech’s Pharma Technical – Hillsboro Innovative Therapies (HIT) team working on cutting edge cell therapies. As a member of the HIT Manufacturing team, the manufacturing intern will gain GMP manufacturing experience in grade A/B cleanrooms, learning the proper controls such as aseptic technique, gowning, cleaning and environmental monitoring. Activities include participating in the manufacture of IND-enabling engineering runs as well as clinical batches for patients. The manufacturing intern will also support validation activities of GMP process equipment, process optimization, and procedure development.
This internship position is located in Hillsboro, on-site
THE OPPORTUNITY
- Gain experience in cutting edge cell therapies.
- Receive hands-on training from the HIT Manufacturing team.
- Support HIT Manufacturing with process efficiency and optimization.
- Familiarize yourself with the different departments within the pharmaceutical industry.
PROGRAM HIGHLIGHTS
- Intensive 12-weeks, full-time (40 hours per week) paid internship.
- Program start dates are in May/June (Summer)
- A stipend, based on location, will be provided to help alleviate costs associated with the internship.
- Ownership of challenging and impactful business-critical projects.
- Work with some of the most talented people in the biotechnology industry.
WHO YOU ARE (REQUIRED)
Required Education:
You meet one of the following criteria:
- Must be pursuing a Bachelor's Degree (enrolled student).
Required Majors:
Biochemistry, Molecular/Cellular Biology, Engineering, Biotechnology.
Required Skills:
- General computing skills and Gsuite
- Experience with technical writing or protocol generation
- Data analysis
PREFERRED KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, AND QUALIFICATIONS
- Excellent communication, collaboration, and interpersonal skills.

COMPENSATION
- The expected salary range for this position based on the primary location of Oregon is $23.00-$28.00 per hour. Actual pay will be determined based on experience, qualifications, geographic location, and other job-related factors permitted by law. This position also qualifies for paid holiday time off benefits.
