Which accounting companies sponsor H-1B visas in Utah?
The Big Four accounting firms, Deloitte, PwC, EY, and KPMG, all have Utah offices and established H-1B sponsorship programs. Regional firms like Tanner LLC and CBIZ also have a presence in Salt Lake City. Large Utah-headquartered corporations such as Intermountain Health and Qualtrics sponsor H-1B accountants for in-house roles. Filing history in DOL disclosure data can help identify which employers have sponsored accounting roles previously.
Which cities in Utah have the most accounting H-1B sponsorship jobs?
Salt Lake City accounts for the majority of accounting H-1B sponsorship activity in Utah, driven by its concentration of corporate headquarters, financial services firms, and public accounting offices. Provo and Orem are secondary markets, supported by the tech corridor along the Wasatch Front. Ogden has a smaller but active accounting job market, primarily tied to manufacturing and government contracting employers.
What types of accounting roles typically qualify for H-1B sponsorship?
Roles that require a bachelor's degree or higher in accounting, finance, or a closely related field generally meet the H-1B specialty occupation standard. Common qualifying titles include Staff Accountant, Senior Auditor, Tax Analyst, Financial Reporting Manager, and CPA-track Associate. General bookkeeping or entry-level data entry roles that do not require a specific degree typically do not qualify. A CPA license or advanced degree can strengthen an application.
How do I find accounting H-1B sponsorship jobs in Utah?
Migrate Mate is built specifically for this search. You can filter by visa type, industry, and state to surface accounting roles in Utah where employers have indicated H-1B sponsorship willingness. This saves significant time compared to manually screening postings. Migrate Mate also lets you track which Utah-based accounting firms are actively hiring internationally, so you can focus your applications on employers with a real sponsorship track record.
Are there any Utah-specific considerations for H-1B accounting sponsorship?
Utah's relatively low cost of doing business has attracted regional headquarters from financial services, health tech, and software companies, many of which hire international accounting staff for corporate finance and compliance functions. The state does not impose additional filing requirements beyond federal H-1B rules. However, if your role involves licensed CPA work in Utah, you will need to verify whether your home-country credentials satisfy the Utah Division of Professional Licensing requirements independently of your H-1B status.
What is the prevailing wage for H-1B accounting jobs in Utah?
U.S. employers sponsoring a visa must pay at least the prevailing wage, which is what workers in the same role, area, and experience level typically earn. The Department of Labor sets this rate to make sure companies aren't hiring foreign workers simply because they'd accept lower pay than a U.S. worker. It varies by job title, location, and experience. You can look up current prevailing wage rates for any occupation and location using the OFLC Wage Search page.
