Which healthcare companies sponsor H-1B visas in Utah?
The largest H-1B sponsors in Utah's healthcare sector include Intermountain Health, University of Utah Health, and MountainStar Healthcare. Academic medical centers and research hospitals are generally the most active sponsors because they have established HR and legal infrastructure to manage the petition process. Smaller private practices and outpatient clinics sponsor far less frequently.
Which cities in Utah have the most healthcare H-1B sponsorship jobs?
Salt Lake City accounts for the largest share of healthcare H-1B roles in Utah, driven by University of Utah Health and the Intermountain Health flagship campus. Provo and Orem have a secondary concentration of opportunities, particularly through Utah Valley Hospital. St. George is a smaller but growing market as southern Utah's population expands and regional hospital systems add capacity.
What types of healthcare roles typically qualify for H-1B sponsorship in Utah?
Roles that consistently qualify are those requiring a specific bachelor's degree or higher in a defined field, such as physicians, surgeons, pharmacists, physical therapists, occupational therapists, medical researchers, and clinical laboratory scientists. General nursing positions face more scrutiny under the specialty occupation standard, though advanced practice registered nurses with graduate degrees have a stronger case. Each petition is evaluated individually by USCIS.
How do I find healthcare H-1B sponsorship jobs in Utah?
Migrate Mate filters job listings specifically by visa sponsorship type, so you can search for healthcare H-1B roles in Utah without sorting through positions that don't sponsor. This is particularly useful in healthcare, where sponsorship willingness varies significantly by employer size and facility type. Filtering by Utah and the healthcare category on Migrate Mate surfaces roles from hospital systems and clinical employers that have an active sponsorship history.
Are there any Utah-specific considerations for healthcare H-1B sponsorship?
Utah's healthcare market is heavily influenced by the Intermountain Health system, which operates as a nonprofit and has well-established immigration sponsorship processes. The state's relatively lower cost of living compared to coastal markets can be a factor in prevailing wage calculations, which employers must meet under Labor Condition Application requirements. Utah also has a growing biotech and medical device sector around Salt Lake City that creates adjacent H-1B opportunities for clinically trained professionals moving into research or industry roles.
What is the prevailing wage for H-1B healthcare jobs in Utah?
U.S. employers sponsoring a visa must pay at least the prevailing wage, which is what workers in the same role, area, and experience level typically earn. The Department of Labor sets this rate to make sure companies aren't hiring foreign workers simply because they'd accept lower pay than a U.S. worker. It varies by job title, location, and experience. You can look up current prevailing wage rates for any occupation and location using the OFLC Wage Search page.
