Government contractors like Booz Allen Hamilton and CACI also sponsor insurance professionals for federal health programs. Many of these companies regularly file H-1B petitions for actuaries, underwriters, and data analysts.
How to find insurance visa sponsorship jobs in Washington DC?

Many opportunities exist in government health programs, federal employee benefits administration, and insurance technology companies serving the federal market.
Which visa types are most common for insurance roles in Washington DC?
H-1B visas dominate for actuaries, data scientists, and software engineers in insurance technology. L-1 visas are common for international insurance companies with DC offices. TN visas work for Canadian and Mexican professionals in actuarial roles, while O-1 visas occasionally apply to senior executives or specialized risk analysts.
Which areas of Washington DC have the most insurance sponsorship jobs?
Downtown DC near K Street hosts many insurance company headquarters and government contractors. Arlington, Virginia offers opportunities with federal health program administrators. Bethesda, Maryland has health insurers serving federal employees. The NoMa and Capitol Riverfront districts also house growing insurance technology companies.
What makes insurance visa sponsorship unique in Washington DC?
DC's federal focus creates specialized roles in government health programs, federal employee benefits, and regulatory compliance that other markets lack. Many positions require security clearances, which can complicate visa sponsorship. The prevailing wages tend to be higher due to government contractor requirements and cost of living adjustments.
What is the prevailing wage for sponsored insurance jobs in Washington DC?
U.S. employers sponsoring a visa must pay at least the prevailing wage, which is what workers in the same role, area, and experience level typically earn. The Department of Labor sets this rate to make sure companies aren't hiring foreign workers simply because they'd accept lower pay than a U.S. worker. It varies by job title, location, and experience. You can look up current prevailing wage rates for any occupation and location using the OFLC Wage Search page.
