Search Construction Jobs in WashingtonConstruction Green Card Sponsorship Jobs in Washington: Frequently Asked Questions
Which construction companies sponsor Green Card visas in Washington?
Large general contractors and engineering firms operating in Washington, including Turner Construction, Skanska USA, Mortenson, and Hensel Phelps, have sponsored permanent residence for skilled construction employees. Specialty subcontractors in electrical, mechanical, and structural work also sponsor in some cases. Sponsorship decisions depend on the employer's workforce needs, the role's technical requirements, and whether a qualified U.S. worker is unavailable for that position.
Which cities in Washington have the most construction Green Card sponsorship jobs?
Seattle and Bellevue account for the highest concentration of construction sponsorship activity in Washington, driven by ongoing commercial, residential, and infrastructure projects across King County. Tacoma, Spokane, and the Tri-Cities area also see consistent construction hiring. Major public works projects and data center builds in the greater Seattle metro tend to attract the largest contractors, which are more likely to have established immigration sponsorship programs.
What types of construction roles typically qualify for Green Card sponsorship in Washington?
Green Card sponsorship in construction most commonly applies to roles requiring a bachelor's degree or higher in a specialized field, such as civil engineers, structural engineers, project engineers, construction managers, estimators, and safety managers. Roles that combine technical education with project oversight responsibility are stronger candidates for EB-2 or EB-3 sponsorship through the PERM labor certification process. General labor positions are rarely sponsored for permanent residence.
How do I find construction Green Card sponsorship jobs in Washington?
Migrate Mate is built specifically for international job seekers and filters construction jobs in Washington by visa sponsorship type, including Green Card. Rather than sorting through thousands of listings to identify willing sponsors, Migrate Mate surfaces roles where employers have indicated sponsorship availability. Focusing your search on established general contractors and engineering firms in the Seattle and Puget Sound area improves the likelihood of finding active Green Card sponsorship opportunities.
Are there state-specific considerations for Green Card sponsorship in Washington's construction industry?
Washington's prevailing wage laws and its active Department of Labor and Industries oversight mean employers sponsoring foreign workers through PERM must carefully document wage compliance for the specific role and region. The state's high volume of public works projects also means many positions fall under federal Davis-Bacon prevailing wage requirements, which can affect how employers structure sponsored roles. Working with an immigration attorney familiar with Washington construction employers is advisable before starting the PERM process.
What is the prevailing wage for Green Card construction jobs in Washington?
U.S. employers sponsoring a visa must pay at least the prevailing wage, which is what workers in the same role, area, and experience level typically earn. The Department of Labor sets this rate to make sure companies aren't hiring foreign workers simply because they'd accept lower pay than a U.S. worker. It varies by job title, location, and experience. You can look up current prevailing wage rates for any occupation and location using the OFLC Wage Search page.
