Which agriculture companies sponsor H-1B visas in Washington?
Washington agriculture employers with H-1B Labor Condition Application filings include food processors, agrochemical firms, and agricultural research organizations. Companies such as Lamb Weston, Stemilt Growers, and the Washington State University agricultural extension network have sponsored H-1B workers in technical roles. Sponsorship is not guaranteed at any employer; LCA filing history is the most reliable indicator of a company's willingness to sponsor.
Which cities in Washington have the most agriculture H-1B sponsorship jobs?
Yakima and the broader Yakima Valley concentrate the highest volume of agriculture H-1B activity, driven by fruit processing and viticulture. Moses Lake and the Tri-Cities area (Kennewick, Richland, Pasco) anchor potato and grain-related roles in the Columbia Basin. Bellingham and the Skagit Valley see demand for horticultural and seed-industry positions. Pullman is notable for agricultural research roles tied to Washington State University.
What types of agriculture roles typically qualify for H-1B sponsorship?
H-1B sponsorship in agriculture requires a specialty occupation, meaning the role must normally require at least a bachelor's degree in a directly related field. Qualifying positions commonly include food scientist, agricultural engineer, soil scientist, plant pathologist, precision agriculture specialist, and agricultural data analyst. General farm labor, equipment operation, and supervisory field roles do not meet the specialty occupation standard required by USCIS.
How do I find agriculture H-1B sponsorship jobs in Washington?
Migrate Mate filters job listings by visa type and industry, making it straightforward to search for agriculture H-1B sponsorship roles specifically in Washington. Because Migrate Mate surfaces employer LCA filing history, you can identify which Washington agriculture companies have actively sponsored H-1B workers in relevant occupations rather than applying broadly and discovering sponsorship limitations later in the process.
Are there state-specific considerations for H-1B agriculture sponsorship in Washington?
Washington's agricultural economy is heavily seasonal, but H-1B sponsorship only applies to year-round specialty occupation positions, not seasonal harvesting or processing work, which typically uses H-2A visas instead. Employers in Washington's regulated industries, including pesticide application and food safety compliance, sometimes seek candidates with credentials recognized by the Washington State Department of Agriculture, which can factor into how a specialty occupation is defined for LCA purposes.
What is the prevailing wage for H-1B agriculture jobs in Washington?
U.S. employers sponsoring a visa must pay at least the prevailing wage, which is what workers in the same role, area, and experience level typically earn. The Department of Labor sets this rate to make sure companies aren't hiring foreign workers simply because they'd accept lower pay than a U.S. worker. It varies by job title, location, and experience. You can look up current prevailing wage rates for any occupation and location using the OFLC Wage Search page.
