Which agriculture companies sponsor H-1B visas in Colorado?
JBS USA, headquartered in Greeley, is one of Colorado's most active H-1B sponsors in the agricultural and food processing sector. CoBank, a cooperative bank serving agricultural businesses, has also sponsored H-1B roles in Denver. Colorado State University in Fort Collins regularly sponsors H-1B positions in agricultural research and extension sciences. Smaller agtech and crop science firms along the Front Range have also filed H-1B petitions for specialized roles.
Which cities in Colorado have the most agriculture H-1B sponsorship jobs?
Fort Collins and Greeley account for a significant share of agriculture H-1B activity in Colorado. Fort Collins is home to Colorado State University and a cluster of agricultural research organizations, while Greeley anchors the state's beef processing and feedlot industry. Denver and the broader metro area host agricultural finance, agtech, and cooperative organizations. Pueblo and the Arkansas Valley see activity tied to crop production and food processing operations.
What types of agriculture roles typically qualify for H-1B sponsorship in Colorado?
H-1B sponsorship in agriculture requires the position to qualify as a specialty occupation, meaning it must normally require at least a bachelor's degree in a specific field. Roles that commonly meet this standard include agricultural scientists, food technologists, agronomists, precision agriculture engineers, animal scientists, and agricultural economists. General farmworker, laborer, and equipment operator positions do not qualify, as they do not require a specific bachelor's degree to perform the work.
How do I find agriculture H-1B sponsorship jobs in Colorado?
Migrate Mate is built specifically for international job seekers looking for H-1B sponsorship, including agriculture roles in Colorado. You can filter directly by visa type, industry, and state to surface employers who have a verified history of H-1B sponsorship in the sector. This saves significant time compared to manually researching company sponsorship histories. Migrate Mate's agriculture category covers roles from food science and agronomy to agricultural engineering and precision farming technology.
Are there any Colorado-specific considerations for H-1B sponsorship in agriculture?
Colorado's agricultural economy is concentrated in two distinct areas: the Front Range, which supports research institutions, agtech companies, and cooperatives, and the Eastern Plains and San Luis Valley, which are dominated by crop and livestock production. H-1B sponsorship is far more common among Front Range employers and research institutions than among rural farming operations. Colorado State University's strong agricultural programs also create a pipeline of research-based H-1B roles that do not depend on the annual cap, as universities are cap-exempt employers.
What is the prevailing wage for H-1B agriculture jobs in Colorado?
U.S. employers sponsoring a visa must pay at least the prevailing wage, which is what workers in the same role, area, and experience level typically earn. The Department of Labor sets this rate to make sure companies aren't hiring foreign workers simply because they'd accept lower pay than a U.S. worker. It varies by job title, location, and experience. You can look up current prevailing wage rates for any occupation and location using the OFLC Wage Search page.
