Which construction companies sponsor E-3 visas in Wisconsin?
Large general contractors and engineering-construction firms with Wisconsin operations are the most active E-3 sponsors in the construction sector. Companies like Mortenson Construction, Gilbane Building Company, and Graef have established presences in the state and have historically sponsored specialty occupation roles. Sponsorship decisions vary by project pipeline and open headcount, so direct outreach to hiring managers at firms active in Milwaukee and Madison is worth pursuing.
Which cities in Wisconsin have the most construction E-3 sponsorship jobs?
Milwaukee is Wisconsin's primary construction market, with significant commercial, mixed-use, and infrastructure projects generating demand for specialty occupation roles. Madison follows closely, driven by university expansion, state government projects, and a growing tech-adjacent office sector. Green Bay and the Fox Cities corridor also see consistent activity tied to manufacturing facility construction and regional infrastructure investment, making them secondary markets worth monitoring.
What types of construction roles typically qualify for E-3 sponsorship?
E-3 sponsorship applies to specialty occupation roles, meaning positions that normally require at least a bachelor's degree in a specific field. In construction, this typically includes civil engineers, structural engineers, geotechnical engineers, construction project managers with engineering degrees, and BIM or estimating specialists. General trades, site labor, and supervisory roles that do not require a specific bachelor's degree generally do not meet the specialty occupation standard.
How do I find construction E-3 sponsorship jobs in Wisconsin?
Migrate Mate is the most direct way to search for construction E-3 sponsorship jobs in Wisconsin, as its job board filters specifically for employers willing to sponsor E-3 visas. This saves significant time compared to manually screening general job postings. Focus your search on engineering and project management titles in Milwaukee and Madison, where Wisconsin's construction activity is most concentrated and where firms are more likely to have the HR infrastructure to support visa sponsorship.
Are there any Wisconsin-specific considerations for E-3 construction sponsorship?
Wisconsin's construction season is heavily influenced by its climate, with outdoor project activity concentrated from April through November. This means employer hiring cycles for field-based roles often follow that pattern. Additionally, Wisconsin does not have a state-level prevailing wage law for most private projects following its 2017 repeal, but federally funded projects still require compliance with federal Davis-Bacon prevailing wage requirements, which your employer must reflect in the Labor Condition Application filed for your E-3 petition.
What is the prevailing wage for E-3 construction jobs in Wisconsin?
U.S. employers sponsoring a visa must pay at least the prevailing wage, which is what workers in the same role, area, and experience level typically earn. The Department of Labor sets this rate to make sure companies aren't hiring foreign workers simply because they'd accept lower pay than a U.S. worker. It varies by job title, location, and experience. You can look up current prevailing wage rates for any occupation and location using the OFLC Wage Search page.
