Account Associate Jobs in Illinois: Frequently Asked Questions
How do you become an account associate in Illinois?
Most account associate roles in Illinois require a bachelor's degree in business, marketing, communications, or a closely related field. There is no state-issued license required for the role itself, but candidates pursuing account associate positions in insurance-adjacent firms may benefit from obtaining an Illinois Department of Insurance producer license. Employers in Chicago and the surrounding suburbs typically look for candidates with relevant internship experience, strong communication skills, and demonstrated familiarity with CRM tools.
Which companies hire account associates in Illinois?
Employers hiring account associates in Illinois right now include State Farm, ADP, and CDW, based on current listings on Migrate Mate as of September 2026. Illinois's concentration of Fortune 500 headquarters and major insurance and financial services firms in the Chicago metro creates consistent, year-round demand for account associate talent.
Which Illinois cities have the most account associate jobs?
The Illinois cities with the most account associate openings are Chicago, Schaumburg, and Aurora. Chicago dominates hiring due to its dense cluster of corporate headquarters, financial institutions, and professional services firms, while suburban markets like Naperville and Schaumburg attract openings from large regional employers and technology companies with significant Illinois operations.
Are there remote account associate jobs in Illinois?
Yes, and they are fairly common given that account associate work is largely desk-based and communication-driven. About 80% of account associate openings tied to Illinois are remote or hybrid as of September 2026, reflecting broad employer acceptance of flexible arrangements for this role. The tasks most frequently performed remotely include client communication, CRM management, and reporting, while in-person expectations are more common for roles with direct client entertainment or on-site sales responsibilities.
How can I get hired as an account associate in Illinois with little or no experience?
The most realistic entry path is applying for coordinator or account support roles at mid-size Illinois firms in insurance, logistics, or business services, where employers commonly hire candidates without prior account management experience. Large Illinois-based employers such as Allstate and Aon run structured rotational and associate development programs designed for recent graduates. A bachelor's degree in business or communications paired with a completed internship in a client-facing role significantly strengthens applications, as does familiarity with Salesforce or a comparable CRM platform.
