Social Media & Brand Ambassador - Contract Role
This is a seasonal, part-time independent contractor role running August 2026 through April 2027, approximately 20–25 hours per week.
About Us
Back in 1982, a single mom named Millie Merrill stitched together the first fleece neck warmer in the basement of The Yellow Turtle — her children's clothing shop in Stowe, Vermont. She called it The Turtle's Neck. A small invention with a big ripple. More than 40 years later, the moxie and grit Millie brought to that basement are still woven into everything we make.
We're in the business of getting people outside. Our mission is to grow health and happiness through nature — for every kind of adventure(r). As a Certified B Corp, we hold ourselves accountable to more than the bottom line: people, planet, and purpose. If that resonates with you, we'd love for you to join us.
People genuinely love working here. We have teammates who’ve been with us for 5, 10, and 20+ years. Our HQ sits right in Vermont’s outdoor playground —mountains, miles of mountain bike trails, and some of the most beautiful lakes and rivers in the state are out our back door. Burlington and Montpelier are close by as well.
We take care of our team with a competitive compensation and benefits package that includes 401k, medical and dental insurance, paid time off, and more. Turtle Fur is a proud equal opportunity employer.

Job Summary
Turtle Fur is looking for a social media expert, content creator, and community builder to fuel our organic momentum: grow our following (especially TikTok), cultivate an authentic network of brand ambassadors across diverse outdoor and lifestyle communities, capture and edit content, and help Turtle Fur earn a permanent seat at Gen Z's outdoor table. This is not a traditional social media manager role — this person lives on these platforms, understands how communities form, and builds relationships that feel completely natural.
Essential Duties & Responsibilities
Ambassador Network Development (Core Focus)
- Identifies, vets, and builds long-term relationships with 50+ brand ambassadors across outdoor lifestyle, trail, gorpcore, wellness, festival, and campus communities.
- Prioritizes values-aligned relationships over transactional deals; builds and maintains ambassador CRM tracking products gifted, content generated, and impact.
- Ensures ambassador representation reflects Turtle Fur's inclusive, diverse community across backgrounds, geographies, and outdoor activities.
TikTok Organic Growth (Priority Platform)
- Develops and executes a data-informed TikTok organic growth strategy for @turtlefur; stays current on FYP mechanics, TikTok SEO, trends, and format shifts.
- Advises on Spark Ads amplification for high-performing organic and ambassador content.
Community Engagement, UGC & Content
- Engages 5+ times/week in high-visibility, on-brand conversations across TikTok, Instagram, and Pinterest — witty, warm, never promotional.
- Creates conditions that drive organic UGC; builds and maintains a shared UGC library organized by product, season, and community type.
- Creates short-form vertical content (TikTok, Reels, Shorts) as needed; helps weave brand storytelling so it feels discovered, not broadcast.
Brand Partnerships, Intelligence & Reporting
- Identifies and surfaces brand collaboration opportunities aligned with Turtle Fur values and the 3-year growth plan.
- Delivers a weekly trend summary (1 page max, every Monday) and a monthly performance report covering all platforms, ambassador activity, and UGC volume.
Leadership & Collaboration
- Builds and nurtures authentic relationships with brand ambassadors, creators, and community partners — treating every connection as a long-term investment, not a transaction.
- Collaborates closely with the marketing team to ensure social strategy, content, and ambassador activity are aligned with broader brand campaigns and seasonal priorities.
- Communicates proactively and operates with a high degree of autonomy — surfaces insights, flags opportunities, and brings solutions, not just updates.
- Consistently embodies Turtle Fur's values and brand voice in every external interaction, from community comments to creator outreach.
- Consistently exhibits company values and ethos in all interactions with associates, customers, suppliers, and external constituents; Role models and complies with company code of conduct, policies, and procedures.

- Works in close collaboration with the entire organization.
- Fosters a culture of transparency to the team, partners, vendors, and consumers of Turtle Fur.

- Is a champion for and advocate of the mission and vision in all actions and interactions with our customers, partners, and staff. Actively role models, embodies, and supports Turtle Fur values.
- Practices a strong commitment to protecting and lessening impact on the environment at work by conserving energy, reducing waste generation, stewardship of resources and recycling.
- Contributes to and fosters a safe, positive, inclusive, and productive work environment through cooperative and professional interactions with co-workers, customers, and vendors.

- Proficient in standard business applications (Excel, Word, PowerPoint, Outlook, Teams, Slack, Zoom), mobile devices and apps.
- Constantly drives results that meet company financial, quality, and operational objectives while meeting or exceeding customer expectations, thus continually strengthening our brand.
Preferred:
- Familiar with Later; existing outdoor/lifestyle creator network a plus.

- Portfolio required: specific accounts or campaigns grown with real performance data.
- Degree in marketing, communications, or related field preferred — or equivalent experience. Must be eligible to work as an independent contractor in the US.

Brand Marketing Jobs in Vermont: Frequently Asked Questions
How do you become a brand marketing professional in Vermont?
Brand marketing in Vermont requires no state-issued license or registration, so the path centers on education and portfolio. Most employers expect at least a bachelor's degree in marketing, communications, or business. Building a portfolio of campaign work, whether through internships, freelance projects, or in-house roles at Vermont's many consumer and specialty-goods companies, is the most direct way to qualify. Vermont's strong cooperative and craft-business sectors also offer early career opportunities that build regional brand experience quickly.
Which companies hire brand marketings in Vermont?
Employers hiring brand marketings in Vermont right now include Sally Beauty, BURTON, and Turtle Fur, based on current listings on Migrate Mate as of July 2026. Vermont's food, beverage, outdoor recreation, and hospitality industries drive consistent demand, making the state's headquartered and regionally anchored companies reliable sources of brand marketing openings year-round.
Which Vermont cities have the most brand marketing jobs?
Vermont, Winooski, and Burlington account for the largest share of brand marketing openings in Vermont. Burlington leads because it is home to the state's largest concentration of corporate offices, consumer brands, and agency-side firms, while Montpelier and Stowe generate openings through government-adjacent organizations, resort operators, and tourism-focused brands that invest heavily in regional marketing.
Are there remote brand marketing jobs in Vermont?
Yes, and more than many fields. Brand marketing is largely a desk and digital discipline, making it well suited to remote and hybrid arrangements. About 33% of brand marketing openings tied to Vermont are remote or hybrid as of July 2026, reflecting broader industry norms. Content strategy, digital campaign management, and social brand roles are the functions most frequently listed as fully remote by Vermont employers.
How can I get hired as a brand marketing professional in Vermont with little or no experience?
The most realistic entry path is a coordinator or marketing associate role at one of Vermont's consumer goods or outdoor brands, where generalist responsibilities let you build a portfolio fast. Cabot Creamery, Burton Snowboards, and Vermont's growing craft food and beverage sector regularly bring on entry-level marketing staff. Internship programs at these employers and at Burlington-area agencies provide structured experience. A strong portfolio of real or spec campaigns, even from coursework, carries significant weight when formal experience is limited.
Where can I find and apply to brand marketing jobs in Vermont?
You can find and apply to brand marketing jobs in Vermont on Migrate Mate, which lists current openings from employers across the state. Search the listings to find roles that match your background and experience level, then apply directly to the ones that fit. No sign-up is required to see the openings.
