Business Development Jobs in Kentucky: Frequently Asked Questions
How do you become a business development in Kentucky?
Most business development roles in Kentucky require a bachelor's degree in business administration, marketing, or a related field, though no state-issued license governs the role. Employers across Louisville and Lexington typically look for candidates who have completed internships, worked in inside sales, or held account coordination roles. Building familiarity with CRM tools and earning a sales-focused certification such as Certified Professional Sales Person strengthens your candidacy before applying to senior positions.
Which companies hire business developments in Kentucky?
Kentucky business development roles are posted by Airgas, Coastal, and LPX and others right now, based on current listings on Migrate Mate as of September 2026. Louisville's concentration of healthcare, insurance, and logistics firms makes it the most active hiring market in the state for this role.
Which Kentucky cities have the most business development jobs?
Louisville, Lexington, and Elizabethtown lead Kentucky for business development openings. Louisville generates the largest share of postings, driven by its headquarters-heavy economy in healthcare, manufacturing, and financial services, while Lexington benefits from a strong network of technology companies and the University of Kentucky's corporate partnerships, and Northern Kentucky draws openings from employers based just across the Cincinnati metro.
Are there remote business development jobs in Kentucky?
Yes, and they are more common than in many fields, since business development work centers on calls, virtual meetings, and relationship management rather than physical presence. About 45% of business development openings tied to Kentucky are remote or hybrid as of September 2026, reflecting broader adoption across the sector. Fully remote roles are most prevalent in enterprise software sales and consulting, while roles tied to manufacturing or regional account management tend to require in-person client visits.
How can I get hired as a business development in Kentucky with little or no experience?
The most realistic entry path is a sales development representative or business development representative role, which Louisville and Lexington employers use as a structured on-ramp. Large Kentucky employers in healthcare and logistics often hire associate account managers from adjacent roles in customer success or inside sales. Completing a CRM certification and building a short portfolio of outreach campaigns or prospecting work gives candidates without formal experience a concrete edge in screening.
Where can I find and apply to business development jobs in Kentucky?
You can find and apply to business development jobs in Kentucky on Migrate Mate, which lists current openings tied to the state. Search the listings, find roles that match your experience and target market, and apply directly to the ones that fit.
