Business Development Manager Jobs in Louisiana: Frequently Asked Questions
How do you become a business development manager in Louisiana?
Most business development manager roles in Louisiana require a bachelor's degree in business, marketing, or a related field, though no state-issued license applies to the role itself. Employers in Louisiana's dominant sectors, including energy companies along the Gulf Coast and major health systems, typically expect several years of sales or account management experience before promoting someone into a business development manager title. Building familiarity with Louisiana's industrial procurement cycles or healthcare contracting process gives candidates a concrete edge.
Which companies hire business development managers in Louisiana?
Employers hiring business development managers in Louisiana right now include Optum, Landscape Workshop, and MCC, based on current listings on Migrate Mate as of September 2026. Louisiana's concentration of energy operators, regional hospital networks, and large logistics firms means business development roles here often require industry-specific relationship experience rather than purely generalist sales backgrounds.
Which Louisiana cities have the most business development manager jobs?
Baton Rouge, Metairie, and New Orleans lead Louisiana for business development manager openings. New Orleans drives volume through its port logistics, tourism-adjacent commercial activity, and growing tech services sector, while Baton Rouge reflects demand from petrochemical operators and state government contractors headquartered there, and Shreveport's healthcare and manufacturing base sustains a smaller but steady pipeline of openings.
Are there remote business development manager jobs in Louisiana?
Yes, and more than most fields, since business development work is primarily relationship-driven and communication-based rather than tied to a physical site. About 86% of business development manager openings tied to Louisiana are remote or hybrid as of September 2026, reflecting how much of the role runs through calls, video meetings, and digital outreach. Client-facing territory management and on-site proposal work tend to stay in-person, while pipeline strategy and reporting roles offer the most flexibility.
How can I get hired as a business development manager in Louisiana with little or no experience?
The most realistic path is starting in an inside sales, account coordinator, or sales development representative role at a Louisiana employer and building toward a business development title from there. Large operators in the energy corridor, regional hospital systems like Ochsner or LCMC Health, and logistics companies with Gulf Coast operations all hire entry-level commercial roles that feed into business development tracks. A completed business degree, a Salesforce certification, or demonstrated experience managing a small client book gives candidates with limited direct experience a concrete advantage when applying.
Where can I find and apply to business development manager jobs in Louisiana?
You can find and apply to business development manager jobs in Louisiana on Migrate Mate, which lists current openings from employers hiring across the state right now. Search the available roles, find ones that match your background and target industry, and apply directly to the ones that fit.
