Business Sales Representative Jobs in Illinois: Frequently Asked Questions
How do you become a business sales representative in Illinois?
Most Illinois employers require a bachelor's degree in business, marketing, or a related field, though some hire candidates with an associate degree plus demonstrated sales experience. Illinois does not require a state-issued license specifically for business sales representatives. Candidates typically build their path through entry-level roles such as sales development representative or account coordinator at Illinois-based firms, then progress by developing product knowledge, CRM proficiency, and a record of quota attainment.
How much do business sales representatives make in Illinois?
Business sales representatives in Illinois earn a median of about $66,900 a year, based on May 2025 Bureau of Labor Statistics wage data, ranging from around $38,530 for the lowest 10% to over $154,070 for the top 10%. Pay rises with experience, specialty, and employer.
Which companies hire business sales representatives in Illinois?
Employers hiring business sales representatives in Illinois right now include Epsilon, Staples, and Equipnet, based on current listings on Migrate Mate as of September 2026. Illinois's concentration of Fortune 500 headquarters and major regional offices in sectors like technology, insurance, and manufacturing means the hiring pool is broad and consistently active.
Which Illinois cities have the most business sales representative jobs?
Chicago, Illinois, and Elgin have the most business sales representative openings in Illinois. Chicago's density of corporate headquarters, financial institutions, and technology companies drives the bulk of demand, while Naperville and Schaumburg attract openings through the large B2B-focused firms and regional offices clustered along the I-88 corridor west of the city.
Are there remote business sales representative jobs in Illinois?
Yes, and more than many sales roles, since business sales work is often conducted by phone and video rather than in person. About 67% of business sales representative openings tied to Illinois are remote or hybrid as of September 2026, reflecting the shift toward digital-first selling environments. Account management and inside sales functions are the segments most frequently offered on a remote or hybrid basis.
How can I get hired as a business sales representative in Illinois with little or no experience?
The most realistic entry path is applying for a sales development representative or business development representative role at a Chicago-area technology, insurance, or logistics company, where these positions are explicitly designed for candidates without prior sales experience. Large Illinois employers such as those in the insurance sector offer structured sales associate training programs that onboard and license new hires. Earning a HubSpot or Salesforce certification before applying signals CRM readiness and gives candidates a concrete edge over other entry-level applicants.
Where can I find and apply to business sales representative jobs in Illinois?
You can find and apply to business sales representative jobs in Illinois on Migrate Mate, which lists current Illinois openings across industries and experience levels.
