Client Executive Jobs in Illinois: Frequently Asked Questions
How do you become a client executive in Illinois?
Most client executive roles in Illinois require a bachelor's degree in business, marketing, or a related field, though no state-issued license is required for the role itself. Illinois employers typically promote from inside sales, account coordinator, or customer success positions. Building experience with CRM tools and completing certifications such as Salesforce Administrator or HubSpot Sales Software strengthens a candidate's profile considerably in the Illinois market.
How much do client executives make in Illinois?
Client executives in Illinois earn a median of about $66,900 a year, based on May 2025 Bureau of Labor Statistics wage data, ranging from around $38,530 for the lowest 10% to over $154,070 for the top 10%. Pay rises with experience, specialty, and employer.
Which companies hire client executives in Illinois?
Employers hiring client executives in Illinois right now include Sun Life, Paylocity, and TransUnion, based on current listings on Migrate Mate as of September 2026. Illinois's deep concentration of Fortune 500 headquarters and major financial, insurance, and technology firms creates consistent year-round demand for client executive talent across Chicago and its suburbs.
Which Illinois cities have the most client executive jobs?
Chicago, Schaumburg, and Carbondale have the highest concentration of client executive openings in Illinois. Chicago anchors the list as the state's primary business hub, home to major financial services, technology, and professional services employers, while suburban markets like Schaumburg and Naperville reflect the large corporate campuses and regional headquarters that extend hiring beyond the city proper.
Are there remote client executive jobs in Illinois?
Yes, and more than many client-facing roles. About 80% of client executive openings tied to Illinois are remote or hybrid as of September 2026, reflecting the account management and relationship-building nature of the work. Strategic account planning, reporting, and internal coordination tend to be the functions most consistently performed remotely, while key client meetings and renewals often still require in-person presence.
How can I get hired as a client executive in Illinois with little or no experience?
The most realistic entry path is through a business development representative or inside sales associate role at one of Illinois's large technology or financial services employers, many of which run structured promotion tracks into account management. Companies with sizable Chicago or suburban Illinois offices, including enterprise software and professional services firms, regularly hire associate account managers from adjacent roles in customer success, sales operations, or client onboarding. Completing a recognized CRM certification and building a record of client-facing project work strengthens an application considerably.
