Clinical Registered Nurse Jobs in Texas: Frequently Asked Questions
How do you become a clinical registered nurse in Texas?
You become a clinical registered nurse in Texas by completing an accredited associate or bachelor's degree in nursing and passing the NCLEX-RN exam, then applying for licensure through the Texas Board of Nursing. Texas participates in the Nurse Licensure Compact, so nurses already licensed in a compact state can work in Texas under that multistate license without obtaining a separate Texas license. Most large Texas hospital systems require licensure before your first day.
How much do clinical registered nurses make in Texas?
Clinical registered nurses in Texas earn a median of about $95,970 a year, based on May 2025 Bureau of Labor Statistics wage data, ranging from around $67,120 for the lowest 10% to over $127,950 for the top 10%. Pay rises with experience, specialty, and employer.
Which companies hire clinical registered nurses in Texas?
Employers hiring clinical registered nurses in Texas right now include Fresenius Medical Care, Ascension, and CHRISTUS Health, based on current listings on Migrate Mate as of June 2026. Texas's size and the presence of major integrated health systems across multiple metros means hiring stays active year-round rather than spiking only during seasonal surges.
Which Texas cities have the most clinical registered nurse jobs?
San Antonio, Round Rock, and Austin have the most clinical registered nurse openings in Texas. Houston leads because of its dense concentration of large hospital systems and the Texas Medical Center, while Dallas and San Antonio drive volume through major regional networks and a fast-growing suburban patient population that keeps outpatient and acute care facilities consistently staffed.
Are there remote clinical registered nurse jobs in Texas?
Yes, but they're rare. Clinical registered nursing is a hands-on, bedside role that requires in-person patient care, so fully remote positions make up a small share of the market. About 0% of clinical registered nurse openings tied to Texas are remote or hybrid as of June 2026, and those positions are almost entirely in telephonic triage, case management, or utilization review rather than direct clinical care.
How can I get hired as a clinical registered nurse in Texas with little or no experience?
The most realistic entry path is a new-graduate nurse residency program, which large Texas systems including Baylor Scott and White Health, HCA Houston Healthcare, and UT Southwestern run specifically for nurses with limited clinical hours. These year-long programs provide structured mentorship and count as your first year of experience. Candidates with a completed BSN, an active Texas RN license, and any clinical internship completed during school are consistently prioritized for these cohorts over those who wait to apply.
Where can I find and apply to clinical registered nurse jobs in Texas?
You can find and apply to clinical registered nurse jobs in Texas on Migrate Mate, which lists current Texas openings across hospitals, health systems, outpatient clinics, and specialty facilities. Search the listings, find roles that fit your experience and preferred location, and apply directly to the ones that match.
