Clinical Research Nurse Jobs in New York: Frequently Asked Questions
How do you become a clinical research nurse in New York?
To work as a clinical research nurse in New York, you must hold an active Registered Nurse license issued or recognized by the New York State Education Department, obtained by passing the NCLEX-RN. Most New York employers also expect at least one to two years of bedside or specialty nursing experience before transitioning into research. Earning a credential such as the Certified Clinical Research Professional from the Society of Clinical Research Associates strengthens a candidate's application considerably.
Which companies hire clinical research nurses in New York?
Employers hiring clinical research nurses in New York right now include Columbia University, Nicholas H. Noyes Memorial Hospital, and Capital Cardiology Associates, based on current listings on Migrate Mate as of June 2026. New York's dense concentration of academic medical centers and global pharmaceutical company offices means both sponsor-side and site-based research nursing roles appear consistently throughout the year.
Which New York cities have the most clinical research nurse jobs?
The cities with the most clinical research nurse openings in New York are New York, Elmwood Ave, and Albany. New York City accounts for the largest share given its concentration of world-ranked academic medical centers, NCI-designated cancer centers, and major pharmaceutical and CRO offices, while Buffalo and Rochester generate steady demand through institutions like Roswell Park Comprehensive Cancer Center and the University of Rochester Medical Center.
Are there remote clinical research nurse jobs in New York?
Yes, but they're rare. Clinical research nursing is a hands-on role that typically requires direct patient contact for assessments, sample collection, and informed consent, so fully remote positions are the exception rather than the rule. About 8% of clinical research nurse openings tied to New York are remote or hybrid as of June 2026, and those tend to cover protocol review, data query resolution, or regulatory document management rather than active patient-facing duties.
How can I get hired as a clinical research nurse in New York with little or no experience?
The most realistic entry path is applying to research nurse coordinator or clinical study associate roles at large New York academic medical centers, which regularly accept nurses transitioning directly from bedside positions. Hospitals such as NewYork-Presbyterian, NYU Langone Health, and Montefiore Medical Center run formal research nurse onboarding programs and post entry-level study coordinator openings that treat strong med-surg or oncology floor experience as equivalent preparation. Completing a Good Clinical Practice certification course before applying gives candidates a concrete credential that signals readiness.
Where can I find and apply to clinical research nurse jobs in New York?
You can find and apply to clinical research nurse jobs in New York on Migrate Mate, which lists current openings across the state. Search the roles available, find the positions that fit your experience and location, and apply directly to the ones that match.
