Frame your fintech experience for Brex
Brex builds financial products for businesses, so experience with payments infrastructure, ledger systems, or banking APIs signals direct relevance. Highlight work on transaction processing, fraud detection, or financial data pipelines in your resume before applying.
Verify your status qualifies as a specialty occupation
USCIS requires H-1B roles to meet specialty occupation standards. Engineering positions at a financial technology company generally qualify, but confirm your specific role requires a bachelor's degree or higher in a directly related field before accepting an offer.
Prepare credential documentation before your offer stage
If your degree is from outside the United States, get a credential evaluation from a NACES-approved evaluator early. Brex's immigration team will need this for the H-1B or PERM petition, and delays here can push your filing window.
Understand the PERM timeline if you want a Green Card
DOL's PERM labor certification process can take 12 to 18 months before an I-140 is even filed. Ask during the offer stage whether Brex initiates Green Card sponsorship and at what seniority level, so you can plan your long-term status accordingly.

Find Engineering at Brex JobsFrequently Asked Questions
Does Brex sponsor H-1B visas for Engineers?
Yes, Brex sponsors H-1B visas for Engineering roles. The company supports both new H-1B petitions and transfers from existing H-1B holders. If you're already on an H-1B with another employer, a transfer is often the faster path since it doesn't require waiting for the annual lottery and you can start work once USCIS receives the petition.
How do I apply for Engineering jobs at Brex?
Applications go through Brex's careers page. Engineering roles at Brex tend to emphasize systems design, distributed systems experience, and familiarity with financial infrastructure. Tailor your application to reflect those priorities. You can also browse open Engineering positions at Brex filtered by visa sponsorship eligibility on Migrate Mate before applying directly.
Which visa types does Brex sponsor for Engineering roles?
Brex sponsors H-1B, TN, F-1 OPT, and F-1 CPT for Engineering positions, and supports EB-2 and EB-3 Green Card pathways for eligible employees. TN is available to Canadian and Mexican nationals in qualifying engineering roles. F-1 CPT is typically used for interns, while OPT covers recent graduates working full time before an H-1B is filed.
What qualifications does Brex expect for sponsored Engineering roles?
Most Engineering roles at Brex require a bachelor's degree or higher in computer science, software engineering, or a closely related field. This matters beyond hiring because USCIS requires H-1B roles to qualify as specialty occupations, meaning the degree must directly relate to the position. Senior roles also expect experience with high-scale systems, and fintech or payments domain knowledge is a recurring signal in Brex's engineering job descriptions.
How do I time my application if my OPT is running out?
If your F-1 OPT has fewer than six months remaining, prioritize roles where the employer can file an H-1B cap-subject petition before the April 1 filing window, or target employers like Brex who may be able to use a cap-exempt route. USCIS's 60-day grace period begins once OPT ends, so apply early enough that an offer and petition can be prepared before your authorization lapses.
