INTRODUCTION
The Product Solutions Architecture (PSA) team acts as a technical multiplier across Datadog. PSAs are domain experts who partner with Field teams on complex customer use cases across pre- and post-sales engagements and scale their impact by producing reusable collateral, including reference architectures, technical guides, and enablement assets. By feeding real-world customer insights back to Datadog Product teams, PSAs help influence product roadmaps while accelerating adoption, usage, and long-term customer success.
Datadog's Service Management suite — spanning App Builder, Incident Management, Event Management, Workflow Automation, and On-Call — helps enterprises detect, triage, and resolve operational issues faster while automating the manual toil around incident response. As a Product Solutions Architect, you will partner closely with Datadog customers and the Service Management product team to design architectures, implement best practices, and drive adoption of App Builder, Incident Management, Event Management, Workflow Automation, and On-Call across customer environments.
At Datadog, we place value in our office culture - the relationships and collaboration it builds, and the creativity it brings to the table. We operate as a hybrid workplace to ensure our Datadogs can create a work-life harmony that best fits them.
What You'll Do:
- Serve as the in-house subject matter expert for Datadog's Service Management products — App Builder, Incident Management, Event Management, Workflow Automation, and On-Call
- Partner with Field teams to provide hands-on technical and architectural guidance to enterprise customers adopting Service Management, including designing on-call escalation policies, incident response workflows, event correlation pipelines, and custom internal tools with App Builder
- Create high-impact technical collateral, including reference architectures, technical guides, cookbooks, and documentation to enable Field teams and the broader customer community — covering topics like automated incident response, alert noise reduction via Event Management, custom runbook automation with Workflow Automation, and low-code app development with App Builder
- Build proofs of concept and small-scale deployments to validate solutions and reproduce real-world customer environments, such as end-to-end incident lifecycles from alert to resolution
- Act as a trusted advisor to Product Management by delivering actionable feedback informed by real-world field experience, helping shape the roadmap for automation, on-call operations, and incident workflows
Who You Are:
- You bring a strong engineering foundation, with hands-on experience building and operating incident response programs, on-call rotations, or internal automation/tooling in production environments at a large scale, and are comfortable diving deep into codebases to understand architectural decisions, tradeoffs, and implementation details
- You are familiar with distributed systems and core observability concepts, such as tracing, metrics, and logging, and understand how alerting, event correlation, and incident management fit into a broader operational workflow
- Experience with languages such as Python and/or JavaScript/TypeScript, and familiarity with low-code/no-code application development concepts
- Comfortable operating in rapidly evolving, ambiguous technical domains
- You build deep context across teams and translate it into reusable, scalable solutions
- You take ownership from problem definition through implementation and measurable outcomes
- Highly detail-oriented, particularly when working on architectures and customer-facing technical assets
- You bring strong listening and consultative skills and are experienced supporting customers in high-pressure, complex situations — including live incident scenarios
- Able to sit up to 4 hours, traveling to and from client sites
- Able to travel via auto, train, or air up to 40% of the time
Bonus Points:
- Successful track record with 5+ years experience working as a Solutions Architect or Sales Engineer supporting incident management, ITSM, on-call/paging, or workflow automation tools (e.g., PagerDuty, Opsgenie, ServiceNow, Jira Service Management, Rundeck)
- Experience using Datadog and/or other observability tools in an SRE or DevOps capacity, particularly owning on-call responsibilities or building internal automation
- Experience building custom applications or internal tools using low-code platforms (e.g., Retool, App Builder) is a plus
Datadog values people from all walks of life. We understand not everyone will meet all the above qualifications on day one. That's okay. If you're passionate about technology and want to grow your skills, we encourage you to apply.

Align your credentials to specialty occupation standards
H-1B eligibility for Technical Architect roles requires a degree in computer science, software engineering, or a closely related field. A general business or unrelated STEM degree can create complications at adjudication, so gather transcripts and any equivalency evaluations before applying.
Target Datadog's enterprise and strategic accounts teams
Technical Architect openings at Datadog are concentrated in enterprise segments where customers need architecture-level guidance. Filtering your search to enterprise or strategic account roles increases your odds of landing a position tied to a team with established sponsorship workflows.
Use Migrate Mate to surface Datadog's active Technical Architect roles
Datadog's sponsorship-eligible Technical Architect postings aren't always flagged clearly on general job boards. Search Migrate Mate to filter specifically for roles at Datadog that are open to visa sponsorship, so you're not applying blindly.
Clarify TN eligibility before your offer call
If you're a Canadian or Mexican national, the TN visa covers computer systems analyst roles, which Technical Architect positions often qualify under. Confirm the job description maps to that USMCA category before your offer conversation so your recruiter can route the petition correctly.
Understand Datadog's LCA filing timeline relative to your start date
Datadog must file a Labor Condition Application with the DOL before submitting your H-1B petition. That LCA takes seven business days minimum. Build that window into your expected start date negotiation so the offer timeline doesn't compress the filing process.
Prepare a portfolio demonstrating observability or cloud architecture decisions
Datadog's hiring bar for Technical Architects centers on systems thinking at scale. Document specific architecture decisions you've owned, especially those involving monitoring, distributed systems, or cloud infrastructure. This strengthens both your interview performance and the evidentiary record supporting a specialty occupation petition.
Frequently Asked Questions
Does Datadog sponsor H-1B visas for Technical Architects?
Yes, Datadog sponsors H-1B visas for Technical Architect roles. The company also supports H-1B1 visa for eligible Australian and Singaporean nationals and TN visa status for Canadian and Mexican nationals. Sponsorship is handled through Datadog's internal immigration team, typically in coordination with an outside immigration counsel once an offer is extended.
How do I apply for Technical Architect jobs at Datadog?
Applications go through Datadog's careers portal at datadoghq.com/careers. You can also browse sponsorship-eligible Technical Architect openings at Datadog through Migrate Mate, which filters specifically for roles open to visa sponsorship. The process typically involves a recruiter screen, a technical architecture assessment, and several rounds of stakeholder interviews focused on enterprise customer scenarios.
Which visa types does Datadog commonly use for Technical Architect roles?
Datadog sponsors H-1B and H-1B1 visas for Technical Architects, along with TN status for Canadian and Mexican nationals. F-1 OPT and CPT are supported for candidates already in the U.S. on student status. For longer-term permanent residence, Datadog has sponsored EB-2 and EB-3 Green Card petitions for employees in this function.
What qualifications does Datadog expect for Technical Architect candidates?
Datadog's Technical Architect roles typically require a bachelor's degree or higher in computer science, software engineering, or a related technical field. Hands-on experience with cloud platforms such as AWS, GCP, or Azure is expected, along with a background in observability, distributed systems, or enterprise infrastructure. Pre-sales or customer-facing architecture experience is a strong differentiator.
How long does the visa sponsorship process take after receiving an offer from Datadog?
For H-1B transfers from an existing H-1B employer, you can start on the filing receipt date, which shortens the gap considerably. New H-1B cap filings are subject to the annual lottery in March with an October 1 start date. TN and H-1B1 visa processing moves faster, often within a few weeks of an offer. USCIS premium processing is available for H-1B petitions and adjudicates within 15 business days.
