Certify Your Credentials Before Applying
ASE certifications carry real weight in Hertz's technician hiring process. Get your credentials evaluated and documented before you apply so hiring managers can confirm your qualifications meet U.S. fleet maintenance standards without delays on their end.
Target Hertz Locations With Fleet Operations
Hertz's largest service centers, typically near major airports and metropolitan hubs, carry the heaviest technician headcount and cycle through hires more consistently. Applying to those locations improves your odds of landing a role where sponsorship has already been processed before.
Use Migrate Mate to Identify Verified Sponsoring Locations
Not every Hertz location has sponsored visas for technician roles. Use Migrate Mate to filter specifically for Hertz technician positions tied to confirmed sponsorship history so you're applying where the process is already familiar to the team.
Align Your Start Date With I-129 Processing Time
H-1B cap-exempt scenarios aside, standard USCIS processing for an I-129 petition can run several months. Negotiate a start date with Hertz that accounts for adjudication time to avoid being caught between a signed offer and pending approval.

Find Technician at Hertz JobsFrequently Asked Questions
Does Hertz sponsor H-1B visas for Technicians?
Yes, Hertz has sponsored H-1B visas for Technician roles. The sponsorship process requires Hertz to file a Labor Condition Application with the DOL and then submit an I-129 petition with USCIS on your behalf. Because H-1B cap-subject petitions are tied to the annual lottery, timing your application cycle with your employer's HR team is essential for a smooth process.
How do I apply for Technician jobs at Hertz?
You can apply through Hertz's careers portal or browse open Technician positions filtered by sponsorship eligibility on Migrate Mate. When applying, emphasize relevant certifications such as ASE credentials, hands-on fleet or automotive maintenance experience, and any prior U.S. work authorization history. Tailoring your application to the specific location and fleet type Hertz operates at that site strengthens your candidacy.
Which visa types does Hertz commonly use for Technician roles?
Hertz sponsors Technician roles across several visa categories including H-1B, TN for eligible Canadian and Mexican nationals, F-1 OPT for recent graduates in relevant technical programs, and employment-based Green Card pathways through EB-2 and EB-3. The appropriate category depends on your nationality, education, and where you are in your career. TN can be a faster path for qualifying nationals since it bypasses the H-1B lottery.
What qualifications does Hertz expect for sponsored Technician positions?
Hertz typically looks for hands-on automotive or fleet maintenance experience, familiarity with diagnostic tools and repair systems, and ideally ASE certification in relevant categories. A degree or diploma in automotive technology, mechanical engineering, or a related field supports the specialty occupation requirement for H-1B purposes. Practical experience with high-volume vehicle turnaround, which is common in rental fleet environments, is a notable advantage in the screening process.
How long does the visa sponsorship process take for a Hertz Technician role?
The timeline varies by visa type. TN status for Canadian nationals can be granted at the port of entry on the same day. F-1 OPT authorization should already be in place before you start. H-1B petitions filed under standard USCIS processing can take several months after the October 1 start date, while PERM-based Green Card cases through DOL and USCIS can extend to one to three years or more depending on your priority date and country of birth.
