Tailor your resume to semiconductor program management
Lam Research Program Manager roles center on NPI, equipment qualifications, and fab customer engagements. Frame your experience around stage-gate processes, yield improvement programs, or cross-functional hardware releases rather than generic project delivery.
Verify your visa category before applying
Lam sponsors multiple nonimmigrant and immigrant visa types for this role. Know which category fits your status before your first recruiter call, so you can confirm eligibility without creating uncertainty late in the hiring process.
Find open roles through Migrate Mate
Lam Research lists Program Manager openings across multiple sites including Fremont, Portland, and Boise. Search Migrate Mate to filter current openings by visa sponsorship type so you reach out only to positions actively built for international candidates.
Align your degree field to the role posting
H-1B specialty occupation approval requires a direct connection between your degree field and the specific role. For Lam Program Manager positions, USCIS scrutinizes whether a technical degree in engineering, materials science, or a related discipline genuinely underlies the job duties described.
Ask about LCA status during the offer stage
Your employer must file a certified Labor Condition Application with DOL before USCIS can adjudicate your H-1B petition. Confirming that Lam's HR team has initiated this step early prevents delays between offer acceptance and your start date.
Account for PERM timing if you want permanent residency
Lam has sponsored EB-2 and EB-3 Green Cards for program management roles. PERM recruitment and audit timelines at DOL routinely run 12 to 18 months before an I-140 can be filed, so start that conversation with HR well before your current status requires action.

Find Program Manager at Lam Research JobsFrequently Asked Questions
Does Lam Research sponsor H-1B visas for Program Managers?
Yes, Lam Research sponsors H-1B visas for Program Manager roles. The process requires your employer to file a certified Labor Condition Application with DOL, followed by a Form I-129 petition with USCIS. Because H-1B cap-subject petitions are subject to an annual lottery, timing your application around the April registration window is essential if you're not already in H-1B status.
Which visa types does Lam Research commonly use for Program Manager roles?
Lam Research supports H-1B for specialty occupation workers, TN for Canadian and Mexican nationals in qualifying engineering or management roles, F-1 OPT and CPT for students in active degree programs or recent graduates, and J-1 for exchange visitors. For longer-term employees, Lam has also pursued EB-2 and EB-3 immigrant visa sponsorship for program management positions leading to a Green Card.
How do I apply for Program Manager jobs at Lam Research?
Applications go through Lam Research's careers portal. Before applying, search Migrate Mate to identify which current Program Manager openings are tagged for visa sponsorship, then apply directly through Lam's site. Tailor your materials to the specific product line or business unit listed in the job description, whether that's Etch, Deposition, or Customer Support Engineering, since hiring teams operate with distinct technical requirements.
What qualifications does Lam Research expect for Program Manager roles?
Most postings require a bachelor's degree in electrical engineering, mechanical engineering, materials science, or a closely related technical field, with several years of program or project management experience in semiconductor equipment, semiconductor manufacturing, or a related hardware-intensive industry. Familiarity with NPI processes, stage-gate methodologies, and cross-functional coordination between engineering, operations, and fab customers is commonly expected at the mid-to-senior level.
How do I time my application if my OPT or H-1B status has a deadline?
If you're on F-1 OPT, confirm whether your field qualifies for the 24-month STEM OPT extension, which gives you up to three years total to secure H-1B sponsorship. H-1B cap-subject petitions must be filed between April 1 and the close of the registration window, with an October 1 start date. If your OPT expires before October 1 of the target year, ask Lam HR whether a cap-exempt filing path or a change of status bridge is available.
