Customer Marketing Manager Jobs in Maryland: Frequently Asked Questions
How do you become a customer marketing manager in Maryland?
Most customer marketing managers in Maryland are hired with a bachelor's degree in marketing, communications, or business, followed by several years in a marketing, account management, or customer success role. Maryland has no state-issued license or exam specific to this role. Employers in the Baltimore and greater Washington, D.C. metro areas often favor candidates with experience in regulated industries such as healthcare, government contracting, or financial services, making exposure to those verticals a meaningful differentiator.
How much do customer marketing managers make in Maryland?
Customer marketing managers in Maryland earn a median of about $154,160 a year, based on May 2025 Bureau of Labor Statistics wage data, ranging from around $82,830 for the lowest 10% to over $256,260 for the top 10%. Pay rises with experience, specialty, and employer.
Which companies hire customer marketing managers in Maryland?
Employers hiring customer marketing managers in Maryland right now include Ameritech Construction, GEICO, and Cloudforce, based on current listings on Migrate Mate as of September 2026. Maryland's concentration of federal contractors, health systems, and financial institutions means these roles frequently sit at the intersection of B2B marketing and highly regulated customer segments.
Which Maryland cities have the most customer marketing manager jobs?
The cities with the most customer marketing manager openings in Maryland are Bethesda, Waldorf, and Baltimore. The distribution reflects Maryland's two dominant employment corridors: the Baltimore metro anchored by large health systems and financial firms, and the I-270 biotech and federal contracting corridor running through Rockville and Bethesda, which generates strong demand for B2B and account-based customer marketing roles.
Are there remote customer marketing manager jobs in Maryland?
Yes, and more than many fields. About 100% of customer marketing manager openings tied to Maryland are remote or hybrid as of September 2026, reflecting how much of the work is campaign planning, content creation, and data analysis rather than on-site execution. Strategy-heavy responsibilities such as building customer journey programs and managing email workflows are the most consistently offered in remote or hybrid arrangements.
How can I get hired as a customer marketing manager in Maryland with little or no experience?
The most realistic entry path is moving into a customer marketing manager role from a closely adjacent position such as marketing coordinator, customer success associate, or CRM analyst. Large Maryland employers in healthcare and federal contracting, including health systems in the Baltimore area and technology contractors along the I-270 corridor, regularly hire rotational marketing associates and marketing operations coordinators that feed into customer marketing functions. Building a portfolio of retention or lifecycle campaign examples, even from internships or volunteer work, and earning a platform certification such as HubSpot or Salesforce Marketing Cloud strengthens a candidacy considerably.
Where can I find and apply to customer marketing manager jobs in Maryland?
