Field Sales Manager Jobs in South Dakota: Frequently Asked Questions
How do you become a field sales manager in South Dakota?
Most field sales manager roles in South Dakota require a bachelor's degree in business, agriculture, or marketing combined with several years of outside sales experience, often in agriculture, healthcare, or financial services. South Dakota does not issue a state license specifically for field sales managers, but roles in insurance or financial products require licensure through the South Dakota Division of Insurance. Building a record of territory growth and earning employer-recognized sales certifications strengthens your candidacy.
How much do field sales managers make in South Dakota?
Field sales managers in South Dakota earn a median of about $136,360 a year, based on May 2025 Bureau of Labor Statistics wage data, ranging from around $72,510 for the lowest 10% to over $219,050 for the top 10%. Pay rises with experience, specialty, and employer.
Which companies hire field sales managers in South Dakota?
South Dakota field sales manager roles are posted by Danaher Corporation, Ellison Technologies, and ABB and others right now, based on current listings on Migrate Mate as of July 2026. South Dakota's mix of large agricultural, healthcare, and financial services employers means field sales manager openings appear across both Sioux Falls-based corporate offices and rural territory-based positions covering the western and central parts of the state.
Which South Dakota cities have the most field sales manager jobs?
Sioux Falls, Brookings, and South Dakota have the most field sales manager openings in South Dakota. Sioux Falls leads because it is home to major healthcare systems, financial institutions, and regional distribution headquarters that all maintain active field sales teams, while Rapid City draws openings tied to Black Hills-area equipment dealers, tourism-related services, and healthcare providers, and Aberdeen serves as a hub for agricultural equipment and crop input companies covering the northeastern part of the state.
Are there remote field sales manager jobs in South Dakota?
Yes, but they're rare. Field sales manager work is fundamentally territory-based and in-person, requiring regular client visits and on-site presence. About 0% of field sales manager openings tied to South Dakota are remote or hybrid as of July 2026, and those remote elements typically apply to administrative tasks like reporting, pipeline management, and virtual team meetings rather than the core client-facing work.
How can I get hired as a field sales manager in South Dakota with little or no experience?
The most realistic entry path is starting as an inside sales representative or account coordinator at a Sioux Falls-based healthcare, agriculture, or financial services company and moving into a field role after demonstrating results. Employers like Sanford Health and regional agricultural suppliers regularly hire into associate sales roles that lead to territory management. Completing a South Dakota agriculture program or earning an insurance license through the South Dakota Division of Insurance gives candidates a measurable edge when applying for entry-level field positions.
Where can I find and apply to field sales manager jobs in South Dakota?
You can find and apply to field sales manager jobs in South Dakota on Migrate Mate, which lists current openings in the state. Search the available roles by location or specialty, identify the ones that match your experience and territory preference, and apply directly to whichever positions fit your background.
