Financial Manager Jobs in Massachusetts: Frequently Asked Questions
How do you become a financial manager in Massachusetts?
Most financial managers in Massachusetts enter the role after earning a bachelor's degree in finance, accounting, economics, or a related field, then building several years of experience in financial analysis, accounting, or a closely adjacent role. Massachusetts does not require a state-issued license specifically for financial managers, but earning a CPA through the Massachusetts Board of Public Accountancy or a CFA credential significantly improves hiring outcomes, particularly in financial services and healthcare finance.
Which companies hire financial managers in Massachusetts?
Employers hiring financial managers in Massachusetts right now include RSM, Bank of America, and The TJX Companies, based on current listings on Migrate Mate as of September 2026. Massachusetts's dense concentration of financial services firms, major hospital systems, and life sciences companies means consistent year-round demand for financial managers at multiple seniority levels.
Which Massachusetts cities have the most financial manager jobs?
Boston, Bedford, and Fairhaven have the most financial manager openings in Massachusetts. Boston drives the largest share of postings, anchored by its financial services, healthcare, and biotechnology industries, while Cambridge's concentration of biotech and university employers and Worcester's growing healthcare and insurance sectors account for strong regional demand outside the core metro.
Are there remote financial manager jobs in Massachusetts?
Yes, and more than many management roles. About 53% of financial manager openings tied to Massachusetts are remote or hybrid as of September 2026, reflecting the desk-based, analytical nature of the work. Financial planning and analysis roles and corporate reporting positions tend to offer the most remote flexibility, while roles requiring close collaboration with operations or on-site leadership teams are more likely to require in-person presence.
How can I get hired as a financial manager in Massachusetts with little or no experience?
The most realistic entry path is a financial analyst or staff accountant role at a large Massachusetts employer, then moving into a manager title after demonstrating ownership of a budget or forecast cycle. Major Massachusetts hospital systems like Mass General Brigham and academic institutions regularly hire new-graduate analysts through structured finance rotational programs. Earning a CPA through the Massachusetts Board of Public Accountancy while working in an analyst role is the credential that most consistently accelerates the move into management.
