Most hotel roles in D.C. require at minimum a high school diploma and relevant hospitality experience, with no single statewide license for general hotel work. Food handlers working in D.C. must obtain a Food Handler Certification through the D.C. Department of Health. For management-track positions, a degree or certificate in hospitality management from institutions like the University of the District of Columbia strengthens an application considerably.

District of Columbia hotel roles are posted by Remington Hospitality, PM Hotel, and HHM Hotels and others right now, based on current listings on Migrate Mate as of September 2026. D.C.'s concentration of luxury, full-service, and government-adjacent conference hotels means these employers maintain consistent year-round hiring across multiple departments.
Which District of Columbia cities have the most hotel jobs?
Washington are the District of Columbia areas with the most hotel job openings. Washington D.C. itself drives the overwhelming majority of demand given its density of full-service hotels serving federal government visitors, diplomatic events, and major national conferences, while any surrounding areas reflect proximity to major convention venues and airports.
Are there remote hotel jobs in District of Columbia?
Yes, but they're rare. Hotel work is fundamentally on-site and hands-on, so most roles require a physical presence. About 0% of hotel openings tied to District of Columbia are remote or hybrid as of September 2026, and those tend to be corporate office positions such as revenue management, digital marketing, or regional sales roles rather than property-level jobs.
How can I get hired as a hotel in District of Columbia with little or no experience?
The most realistic entry path is applying for a front desk agent or housekeeping attendant role at one of D.C.'s large full-service hotels, where on-the-job training is standard. Properties managed by Marriott and Hilton in the District regularly bring on candidates without prior hotel experience through structured onboarding programs. Completing a hospitality certificate at Northern Virginia Community College or the University of the District of Columbia, or transferring from a retail or restaurant customer service role, meaningfully strengthens your application.
