Summary
The Human Resources Specialist serves as a key support partner to the HR Manager and plays an active role in executing strategic and operational HR initiatives. This position is designed as a developmental role with the intent of preparing the successful candidate for advancement into an HR Generalist position. The HR Specialist will gain progressive responsibility across employee relations, compliance, training and development, workers’ compensation administration, H-2A workforce support, policy management, and organizational development.
H2-A Program Support
Assist the HR Manager with H-2A program administration and compliance. Support preparation and maintenance of H-2A contracts, employee documentation, and regulatory records. Coordinate onboarding activities for H-2A workers. Track contract dates, housing requirements, transportation arrangements, and compliance deadlines. Maintain accurate records to ensure adherence to federal and state regulations.
HR Administration
Assist in the development, review, and updating of employee handbooks, policies, and procedures. Ensure HR documentation remains compliant with changing employment laws and regulations. Help communicate policy updates to employees and management. Support implementation and training related to company policies.
Safety, Workers Compensation, and Claims management
Coordinate workers' compensation claims from initial report through resolution. Maintain claim documentation and communication with insurance carriers, healthcare providers, and employees. Track injury reports, return-to-work programs, and claim status updates. Assist with safety and injury prevention initiatives.
Leadership Training and Organizational Development
Coordinate leadership training programs for supervisors and managers. Assist with development of training materials, presentations, and learning resources. Track training completion and maintain records. Support employee engagement and leadership development initiatives.
Required:
Bachelor's degree in Human Resources, Business Administration, Organizational Leadership, or related field; or equivalent combination of education and experience.
2+ years of administrative HR, or business support experience.
Strong organizational and communication skills.
Preferred
Prior Human Resources experience
H-2A familiarity
Spanish/ English Bilingual
Workers' compensation experience
HR certification (SHRM-CP or PHR).
