Patient Care Coordinator Jobs in Texas: Frequently Asked Questions
How do you become a patient care coordinator in Texas?
Patient care coordinators in Texas do not require a state-issued license, but most employers expect at minimum a high school diploma alongside relevant healthcare experience or a certificate in medical office administration, health sciences, or a related field from a Texas community college or vocational program. Earning a Certified Medical Administrative Assistant credential through the American Medical Technologists organization or a Case Management Associate Certification strengthens candidacy significantly with Texas health systems.
Which companies hire patient care coordinators in Texas?
Employers hiring patient care coordinators in Texas right now include Optum, Rehab Employee Services, and Baylor Scott & White Health, based on current listings on Migrate Mate as of June 2026. Texas's large integrated health systems and the state's extensive network of Federally Qualified Health Centers consistently post among the highest volumes of patient care coordinator openings year-round.
Which Texas cities have the most patient care coordinator jobs?
Dallas, Fort Worth, and Austin are the Texas cities with the most patient care coordinator openings, driven by the concentration of major health system headquarters and large academic medical centers in each metro. Houston's Texas Medical Center, the largest medical complex in the world, alone supports thousands of coordinator positions, while Dallas-Fort Worth's rapid population growth and San Antonio's substantial military health infrastructure sustain steady demand.
Are there remote patient care coordinator jobs in Texas?
Yes, but they're rare. About 0% of patient care coordinator openings tied to Texas are remote or hybrid as of June 2026, reflecting that most of the work involves in-person patient interaction, bedside advocacy, and on-site care team collaboration. The portions of the role most often performed remotely are insurance authorization follow-up, telehealth scheduling support, and post-discharge phone outreach.
How can I get hired as a patient care coordinator in Texas with little or no experience?
The most realistic entry path is to apply for a patient services representative or medical receptionist role at a Texas multispecialty clinic or community health center, then lateral into coordination once you have six to twelve months of scheduling and insurance exposure. Large Texas systems such as Baylor Scott & White Health and UT Health run new-hire onboarding cohorts that develop coordinators from administrative backgrounds. Completing a medical administrative assistant certificate at a Texas community college and obtaining basic life support certification adds meaningful competitive advantage.
Where can I find and apply to patient care coordinator jobs in Texas?
You can find and apply to patient care coordinator jobs in Texas on Migrate Mate, which lists current Texas openings across hospital systems, outpatient clinics, home health agencies, and specialty practices. Find the roles that fit your experience and location and apply directly from each listing.
