Performance Manager Jobs in New York: Frequently Asked Questions
How do you become a performance manager in New York?
Most performance manager roles in New York require a bachelor's degree in business, finance, operations, or a closely related field, with a master's degree or MBA giving candidates a clear edge at larger firms. There is no state-issued license specific to the role, but professional certifications such as the Certified Performance Technologist designation or Six Sigma credentials are recognized by many New York employers as a strong differentiator, particularly in financial services and healthcare.
Which companies hire performance managers in New York?
Employers hiring performance managers in New York right now include Amazon, HealixGlobal, and WITHIN, based on current listings on Migrate Mate as of June 2026. New York's concentration of major financial institutions, large hospital networks, and global media companies means consistent and recurring demand for this role across multiple industries throughout the year.
Which New York cities have the most performance manager jobs?
New York, New York City, and Albany have the most performance manager openings in New York. New York City dominates because of its density of corporate headquarters in finance, media, and technology, while Buffalo and Albany see demand driven by regional healthcare systems, state government operations, and manufacturing firms that have built out formal performance functions.
Are there remote performance manager jobs in New York?
Yes, and they are more common than in many other management roles given that performance management is largely analytical and reporting-driven. About 41% of performance manager openings tied to New York are remote or hybrid as of June 2026, reflecting how well the role translates to distributed work. The most fully remote opportunities tend to be in data-heavy specialties like financial performance reporting and workforce analytics, where output is measured by deliverables rather than in-person presence.
How can I get hired as a performance manager in New York with little or no experience?
The most realistic entry path is moving into a performance manager role from a closely adjacent position such as business analyst, operations coordinator, or data analyst, which are roles large New York employers like Northwell Health, Citigroup, and Con Edison hire at the associate level. Building proficiency in KPI reporting tools and pursuing a recognized certification like a Six Sigma Green Belt or a project management credential gives candidates from adjacent roles a concrete edge when competing for first-time performance manager openings.
