Sales And Marketing Manager Jobs in California: Frequently Asked Questions
How do you become a sales and marketing manager in California?
Most employers in California hire sales and marketing managers with a bachelor's degree in marketing, business administration, or communications paired with several years of progressively responsible experience in sales or marketing roles. No state-issued license is required for this position in California. Many candidates move into management after demonstrating results as a marketing coordinator, account executive, or brand specialist, and an MBA from a California university can accelerate advancement into senior roles.
Which companies hire sales and marketing managers in California?
Employers hiring sales and marketing managers in California right now include Acceldata, Cisco, and Dexmate, based on current listings on Migrate Mate as of June 2026. California's concentration of technology headquarters, media companies, and consumer brands means demand stays consistently broad across industries statewide.
Which California cities have the most sales and marketing manager jobs?
Campbell, Los Angeles, and San Francisco have the most sales and marketing manager openings in California. Los Angeles leads because of its dense entertainment, consumer goods, and agency ecosystem, while San Francisco and San Jose reflect the region's technology and SaaS employer base, and San Diego draws openings from its biotech, defense, and tourism sectors.
Are there remote sales and marketing manager jobs in California?
Yes, and more than most fields. About 60% of sales and marketing manager openings tied to California are remote or hybrid as of June 2026, reflecting how much of the strategy, planning, and campaign oversight work translates naturally to distributed teams. The most fully remote positions tend to be in digital marketing, content strategy, and demand generation rather than roles requiring regular in-person client or retail engagement.
How can I get hired as a sales and marketing manager in California with little or no experience?
The most realistic entry path is moving into a coordinator or specialist role first, then building toward management. Large California technology companies and consumer brands regularly post associate marketing manager and junior sales operations roles designed for candidates without prior management experience. Completing Google's or Meta's marketing certifications and building a portfolio of measurable campaign results helps candidates stand out. Lateral moves from account coordinator, inside sales representative, or marketing analyst positions at California agencies or enterprise employers are among the most common stepping stones.
