Sales Business Development Jobs in Tennessee: Frequently Asked Questions
How do you become a sales business development in Tennessee?
Most sales business development roles in Tennessee do not require a state-issued license, but employers consistently favor candidates with a bachelor's degree in business, marketing, or a related field alongside demonstrated sales experience. Tennessee does not maintain a state licensing board for this profession. Building a record of quota attainment, earning a recognized sales certification such as Certified Professional Sales Person, and gaining experience with enterprise CRM tools are the steps that move candidates to the front of the line with Tennessee employers.
How much do sales business developments make in Tennessee?
Sales business developments in Tennessee earn a median of about $61,630 a year, based on May 2025 Bureau of Labor Statistics wage data, ranging from around $34,350 for the lowest 10% to over $128,130 for the top 10%. Pay rises with experience, specialty, and employer.
Which companies hire sales business developments in Tennessee?
Employers hiring sales business developments in Tennessee right now include Shamrock Trading Corporation, IPG, and L3Harris, based on current listings on Migrate Mate as of September 2026. Tennessee's concentration of healthcare, logistics, and technology companies means demand for sales business development talent remains active across both corporate headquarters and regional offices throughout the state.
Which Tennessee cities have the most sales business development jobs?
Nashville, Franklin, and Memphis have the most sales business development openings in Tennessee. Nashville dominates due to its dense concentration of healthcare corporations, SaaS companies, and financial services firms, while Memphis supports strong demand through its logistics, distribution, and manufacturing sectors, and Knoxville adds volume through its growing technology and energy industry employers.
Are there remote sales business development jobs in Tennessee?
Yes, and more than many fields. About 57% of sales business development openings tied to Tennessee are remote or hybrid as of September 2026, reflecting the role's natural fit with phone, video, and digital outreach work. The portions of the role most commonly performed remotely include prospecting, pipeline management, and virtual client presentations, while territory-based and enterprise account roles more often require in-state travel.
How can I get hired as a sales business development in Tennessee with little or no experience?
The most realistic entry path is applying to sales development representative or business development representative roles, which large Tennessee employers such as HCA Healthcare, Asurion, and Dollar General use to build their pipelines of junior sales talent. Lateral moves from customer success, retail management, or account coordination roles are common bridges. Earning a sales certification, building a portfolio of prospecting work, or completing a structured sales training program at a Nashville or Memphis employer gives candidates without direct experience a concrete edge.
Where can I find and apply to sales business development jobs in Tennessee?
You can find and apply to sales business development jobs in Tennessee on Migrate Mate, which lists current Tennessee openings updated in real time. Search the available roles, find the ones that match your background and target market, and apply directly to the employers posting them.
