Sales Team Leader Jobs in Tennessee: Frequently Asked Questions
How do you become a sales team leader in Tennessee?
Most sales team leaders in Tennessee advance from individual contributor sales roles by building a consistent performance record and taking on informal mentoring or training responsibilities before a formal promotion. No state-issued license is required for most sales leadership roles, though candidates in insurance sales must hold an active Tennessee Department of Commerce and Insurance producer license. A bachelor's degree in business or marketing strengthens candidacy, and employers across Nashville and Memphis frequently promote from within.
How much do sales team leaders make in Tennessee?
Sales team leaders in Tennessee earn a median of about $85,980 a year, based on May 2025 Bureau of Labor Statistics wage data, ranging from around $49,800 for the lowest 10% to over $147,900 for the top 10%. Pay rises with experience, specialty, and employer.
Which companies hire sales team leaders in Tennessee?
Companies currently hiring sales team leaders in Tennessee include American Eagle Outfitters, Target, and pOpshelf, per current listings on Migrate Mate as of September 2026. Tennessee's concentration of retail headquarters, logistics firms, and regional financial services companies makes it one of the more active states for sales leadership hiring at both the team lead and floor supervisor levels.
Which Tennessee cities have the most sales team leader jobs?
Knoxville, Nashville, and Memphis consistently post the most sales team leader openings in Tennessee. Nashville dominates due to its concentration of healthcare, financial services, and corporate retail headquarters, while Memphis draws on its logistics and distribution sector anchored by major freight and consumer goods companies, and Knoxville reflects strong retail and insurance employer presence across East Tennessee.
Are there remote sales team leader jobs in Tennessee?
Yes, but they represent a smaller share of openings given that sales team leadership often involves in-person coaching, floor presence, and direct client interaction. About 13% of sales team leader openings tied to Tennessee are remote or hybrid as of September 2026, with remote roles most common in inside sales, SaaS account management, and insurance team leadership where daily supervision happens over digital tools rather than on a sales floor.
How can I get hired as a sales team leader in Tennessee with little or no experience?
The most realistic path is to start as a sales associate or account representative at a large Tennessee employer and pursue an internal promotion by consistently exceeding targets and volunteering to train new hires. Retailers headquartered in Tennessee, including Dollar General and regional grocery and home improvement chains, run structured assistant team lead programs that move high performers into leadership within a year or two. Holding a Tennessee insurance producer license issued by the Department of Commerce and Insurance gives candidates a measurable edge when applying to financial services and insurance carriers hiring in Nashville and Memphis.
Where can I find and apply to sales team leader jobs in Tennessee?
You can find and apply to sales team leader jobs in Tennessee on Migrate Mate, which lists current openings tied to Tennessee employers and locations. Search the available roles, find the ones that match your experience and preferred location, and apply directly to the ones that fit.
