Sales Team Leader Jobs in Ohio: Frequently Asked Questions
How do you become a sales team leader in Ohio?
Most Ohio employers promote into sales team leader roles from high-performing individual contributor positions such as account executive, sales representative, or inside sales associate. A bachelor's degree in business or marketing strengthens candidacy at larger companies. For roles in insurance sales management, an active Ohio insurance producer license issued through the Ohio Department of Insurance is typically required before leading a licensed team. Building familiarity with CRM tools and formal coaching skills accelerates the move into leadership.
How much do sales team leaders make in Ohio?
Sales team leaders in Ohio earn a median of about $81,720 a year, based on May 2025 Bureau of Labor Statistics wage data, ranging from around $48,030 for the lowest 10% to over $159,460 for the top 10%. Pay rises with experience, specialty, and employer.
Which companies hire sales team leaders in Ohio?
Employers hiring sales team leaders in Ohio right now include Giant Eagle, Meijer, and Bibibop, based on current listings on Migrate Mate as of September 2026. Ohio's strong concentration of insurance carriers, financial services firms, and regional retail headquarters means demand is consistent across both corporate and field-based sales leadership roles.
Which Ohio cities have the most sales team leader jobs?
Columbus, Cincinnati, and Cleveland account for the most sales team leader openings in Ohio. Columbus dominates as the state capital and home to major insurance, financial services, and retail headquarters, while Cleveland and Cincinnati generate demand through their large healthcare systems, manufacturing distributors, and regional corporate offices that maintain dedicated sales teams.
Are there remote sales team leader jobs in Ohio?
Yes, though they are more selective than fully desk-based roles, since sales team leaders are often expected to coach reps in person, attend client meetings, or manage field activity. About 5% of sales team leader openings tied to Ohio are remote or hybrid as of September 2026, with remote options most common in SaaS, insurance, and inside sales environments where the full team works from distributed locations.
How can I get hired as a sales team leader in Ohio with little or no experience?
The most realistic entry path is performing consistently as an individual sales contributor and volunteering for informal leadership responsibilities such as onboarding new reps or running team huddles. Large Ohio employers like Nationwide, Progressive, and major retail chains in the Columbus and Cleveland markets regularly post associate team lead and sales supervisor roles that require limited prior management experience. Obtaining an Ohio insurance producer license signals readiness for insurance-sector leadership and separates candidates who lack a management title from those who do not.
Where can I find and apply to sales team leader jobs in Ohio?
You can find and apply to sales team leader jobs in Ohio on Migrate Mate, which lists current Ohio openings updated regularly. Search the listings, find the roles that match your experience and preferred location, and apply directly to each one.
